Head of Social Media and Digital Content

Reporting to the Marketing Director you will be responsible for leading the Social Media and Digital Content function and strategy for a global information services company. You will lead a talented team of social media and content experts to truly engage with the general public and key influencers – driving awareness and consideration of the clients direct to consumer products.


Someone from an agency or a financial/information consultancy, someone who is a real thinker who can come up with and drive strategy across daily/weekly/monthly content

Or

Someone from a major content publisher who has done the same


Someone who can drive partnerships with other teams across the business and external organisations

Key Responsibilities:
• Evolving our social media strategy and approach; including platform presence, integration of social across channels and consumer engagement and interactions
• Develop a holistic digital content strategy, across our direct to consumer (D2C) channels inc. providing guidance on implementation approach to better surface content across channels and increase engagement
• Lead the team to shift from individual channels to a true publishing model, bringing together daily, weekly and quarterly plans to deliver strategic vision of the brand
• Inspire and lead the social media team to effectively deliver on the social media strategy and plans
• Evolve Facebook and Twitter presence
• Grow YouTube channel through paid and organic activity
• Assess, develop plans and roll out at least 1 new channels over the next 12 months
• Undertake an audit of existing LinkedIn presence and recommend a workable way forward – working cross functionally with our B2B business to implement this
• Lead of the revision of existing social media guidelines for the client in the UK
• Oversee the measurement and distribution of digital content across the client
• Oversee the implementation of social media/content marketing campaigns
• Take responsibility for evolving our approach to creating a partnership network in order to act as a seeding pool for our content marketing initiatives
• Take responsibility for decision making around and ownership of tools to support and deliver our social media strategy, such as social listening and measurement tools
• Work closely with the SEO team to ensure that any social media and content marketing campaigns are aligned with the SEO strategy and objectives
• Work closely with our paid social marketing agency in order to ensure that our paid and unpaid social activity is aligned and complimentary and that we are boosting the right posts
• To be at the forefront of any changes happening in the social and content marketing space
• Lead team of 4 direct reports (and 3 indirects) across social, editorial & content
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
• Degree qualified
• Proven track record of delivering successful social media initiatives across the whole marketing funnel inc. experience in using digital/social to generate sales, leads and retention
• A digital enthusiast who is heavily active on social media and is always up to speed on the latest social media developments and platforms
• Proven track record in stakeholder management, with the maturity to influence and lead in a corporate culture
• You work and think on a strategic level to come up with ideas and solutions that will step-change the engagement and performance of our channels
• You have experience of developing and nurturing relationships with key influencers in order to develop an effective seeding pool for your content
• You have experience of managing content marketing and social media across multiple markets and understand the differences between platform preferences, behaviour and engagement
• Results-driven, brand and revenue-focused approach
• You have around 7 years’ experience managing teams, budgets and projects in a digital marketing or communications focus
• At least 4 years experience in social media
• Collaborative and supportive working style
Desirable
• Consultancy or agency background that could bring a new perspective
• The position would benefit from a good working knowledge of the financial services/credit industry industry
