A globally renowned government services provider is seeking a new Head of Marketing & Communications on a 6 month fixed term contract. The purpose of the role is to develop the annual Marketing & Communications Strategy and be responsible for reactive and proactive marketing and communications for this Transport for London operation.
? Develop the crisis management process; setting severity levels in line with standard levels, set up communications crisis management team, ensure processes for reporting incidents from a communications perspective are in place, set up media handling process to meet internal and client expectations.
? Write the crisis communications manual
? Manage the media; draft press statements, press releases/notices, liaise with journalists as appropriate and in accordance with the agreed protocol, reporting internally and upwards as appropriate, prepare spokespeople for interviews (train where necessary).
? Undertake crisis scenario testing days
? Monitor media daily; press, broadcast, social media.
? Make internal announcements as appropriate to keep staff informed.
Proactive Marketing & Communications
? Write high quality communications. Write case studies to showcase capabilities.
? Sell into trade and industry press to gain positive press coverage - and use for promotional, bid purposes.
? Develop and manage the stakeholder strategy including; the stakeholder map, understanding stakeholder advocacy/support levels, organising stakeholder events as appropriate and managing relationships with key influencers and opinion formers.
? Act as the main gatekeeper for the Mayor?s Questions Time with the primary aim to protect our client?s reputation. Lead on organising VIP stakeholder site visits as appropriate.
? Manage relationships with press offices and marketing teams, ensuring awareness of marcoms plans and alignment with the operation.
? Undertake marketing projects as required, liaising with regular design agency.
? Plan and commission marketing research as required.
? Compile internal staff newsletter each month.
? Write and circulate various staff announcements as required.
? Lead on organising staff events as required.
Proven experience in a high profile Marketing and Communications role; including crisis management and media relations
Experience of working at senior management level.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Ability to represent the company professionally with the media and external organisations
Proven ability to select and manage external PR / Marketing / online / research agencies
Good commercial acumen and negotiation skills
Experience of working in the public sector environment
Understanding of transport, travel and tourism markets
