Head of Digital

A game-changing communications agency are growing their offering and building on their interactive digital division.The primary division of the group is already fully integrated, however the reason for the separate division is to enable a focus on pure digital, highly interactive projects. The agency are looking for the right person to lead the digital arm, who will be empowered to define the blueprint for the team. With this approach, the group aspires to become industry leaders in changing consumer and client attitudes to digital engagement within the health and pharmaceutical sectors.

In essence, the group has a clear ambition for excellence. And for all agencies today, interactivity is a fundamental in that ambition. As such, the evolution of their digital division in this regard is a major priority for the business. The agency has a plan on what it will take to get there. But they also know their limitations. In the group's eyes, the smartest thing they could do for this division is to bring on board someone who has both the knowledge & imagination to help them develop such a pivotal part of their business. Someone who shares the same values & ambitions as they do. Each of the agency's founding partners comes from a BIG-agency background so ideally the Head of Digital will have similar aspirations to do something different and take a more autonomous role within a smaller agency environment

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Of course, individuals are different and a face to face will reveal more than ticking all the boxes below, but there are common characteristics that we have identified that we believe will make someone a more suitable candidate.
- Have a strong portfolio
- Have experience leading teams on digital projects
- Have experience in successful agencies, but currently looking forward to make a mark somewhere smaller, with more freedom, autonomy, ownership
- An ability to contribute & take responsibility for creative output, team building, process efficiency
- A commercial head for business performance.
- Be passionate about creative work and digital communication products
- Ambition to produce work that can change consumer behaviour, and win awards as a consequence.
- Is comfortable being empowered to make decisions.
- Comes from a creative background, with deep knowledge of creative process, the craft involved in designing digital communication.
- Experience liaising with the developing end, partnering with developers to understand best solutions in the beginning and throughout the process, both in house and through 3rd parties.
- Proactive character. Someone that has a passion for making things, developing projects, products and ideas independent of client briefs.

THE PROCESS

Our desired approach is as follows:
- To identify the Head of Digital candidate that we have greatest faith in
- To work with that person to agree a defined budget for staffing (we have assigned a notional budget right now but would like an opinion, based on immediate staff needs & a projected staff plan for the year)
- To empower the Head to redefine who & what is needed to kick off the operation
- To work with the Head to map the ambitions of the unit over the next 12 months
- To work on bonus over pre-defined KPIs, so that the Head of Digital has a massive stake in the success of the business.
