My client, a provider of bespoke corporate training, are seeking a Head of Design to join their creative team, made up of marketeers, filmmakers, animators, graphic designers, artists, game developers and general makers-of-beautiful-things. Like all good marketeers, they know that people are emotional first and rational second, so understand the importance of look and feel. Great content that only stimulates the mind is missing a trick. As Head of Design you will lead a talented in-house creative team on all of the creative elements for client projects. Our clients demand ground breaking creative solutions and lasting results and with your talent for design and creativity – that’s exactly what they’ll get!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Build positive working relationships between the creative team and the other teams within the company (e.g. Learning, Projects, Business Support/Finance)
Ensure the creative team operate as consultants from the beginning of our projects rather than just at the end
Take complete responsible for the quality of output for all creative work
Adopt a ‘hands-on’ approach when required to help the team with concept development
Be the brand guardian both internally and for all client creative assets
Work with traffic planner/studio manager to ensure the right resource is available
Mentor, develop and coach the team to provide their personal development and training recommendations
Be responsible for helping the traffic planner select and hire permanent/freelance staff to ensure correct capabilities and talent resource is available
Understand how to create an inspiring positive culture and energy for the creative team
Support the team with their ‘Creative Jam’ initiatives to continue to inspire and excite the business
Be able to confidently present and sell your creative ideas to clients
Continue to develop and articulate the commercial design offering and play a lead role in developing this vision as the business grows
Be the catalyst for innovation and identifying new ways of delivering content (e.g. keeping ahead of trends and introducing new technologies)

ABOUT YOU

You have rational and strategic thinking behind all of your design projects
You have honed your creative idea generation and feel comfortable delivering at pace when you need too
You can inspire a team and business to think differently about how they use design and creative expression
You can share stories of how you have added creative ideas and ‘theatre’ to proposals and pitches
You know how to bring out the best in individuals and as a team
You will have an integrated background and understand an agency environment
You will feel confident working across digital, print and film/animation
You will have an intimate understanding of design, animation, video/film, print and digital using the following software – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, 3D, Flash, HTML and XML
You can comfortably work across a diverse range of brands from a global delivery company to an high end auction house
You can contribute to reputation of the agency through profile-raising activities if required
