Hardware Server Management Test Tech III

The Server Lab Hardware Technician is responsible for deploying, and maintaining servers and the supporting infrastructure in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities, while maintaining high availability. A strong attention to detail and effective documentation skills are critical components to success in this position.
Job Responsibilities
• Monitor Server Room requests from Development and Test teams
• Prioritize and deploy servers to meet customer requested deadlines.
• Tracking inventory as it's delivered and used in Development and Test.
• Install, test, and label cable and fiber using standard data center protocols and using cable management systems.
• Documenting deployed hardware and network ports
• Maintain asset inventory in an automated SharePoint database
• Responsible for day to day management of servers, networking equipment, project work and capacity management.
• Un-rack and decommission equipment as necessary
• Assist customers as needed
Required Skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Ability to multitask while weighing priorities appropriately
• Maintain high degree of self-motivation and independent decision-making.
• 1-year + experience working in a data center environment or equivalent technology background
• 1-year + experience or ability to show familiarity with building, repairing or upgrading hardware components
• 1-year + experience in a customer service oriented position
• Re-image HP servers, Windows Towers as well as VMs and simulators as requested.
• Ability to troubleshoot and replace parts in servers and PC’s
• Cable routing and component stacking in 42U server configurations
• Significant hands-on experience with the installation of both copper and fiber media types.
• Basic Microsoft Office 2013 knowledge in Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Flexibility in schedule – Might have to stay over to finish up an Urgent customer request
• Strong communication and professionalism via Skype messaging, Email and in person
• Strong Problem solving skills Troubleshooting Technical issues with Windows software Installations
• Familiar with Windows Server 2012 and basic command prompt. (Examples: how to find and IP address, ping a system, scripts and batch files)
• Must be committed to quality and the motivation and ability to work well in a team environment is required.
• Autonomous with team spirit
• Ability to lift/move 25-50 lbs. equipment on a daily basis.
