As the hands-on Design Director, you will be a proven creative tasked to lead and inspire the design team, ensuring the company’s design and deliverables are of the highest quality. This includes helping to secure and develop design staff and contract designers. You will also contribute as a designer as well as lead the team. As a group, the design team brings to life client stories, messaging and product value propositions, produced on-time and with high quality.
To be considered for this hands-on Design Director role you must:
Be able to mentor and elevate the level of the current design staff
Have solid design project management skills. You will assign work to the creative team and manage deadlines within the department, with the help of a Traffic Manager.
Have the ability to contribute to brainstorming/collaboration meetings as a key member of the "ideas team". This is more than visual ideas. It will include campaign ideas, big thinking, and creative solutions.
Responsibilities: Responsible for the overall quality of the work produced by the design department.
Help brainstorm marketing ideas, new campaign concepts, and creative ways to accomplish clients' goals.
Works from client interaction or by studying information and materials provided, and/or prepares layouts based on the input of other team members. Executes concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style.
Presents ideas and direction to clients.
Provides guidance, feedback and direction to designers for their respective projects to ensure design consistency and quality for all of clients.
Serves as the voice of the creative team on the Advisory Team.
Help identify, secure and develop creative services talent as needed. Includes outside resources as applicable including photography and illustration.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Planning and shaping the creative trajectory of agency (by seeking new clients, enrolling in competitions, bringing new skills and capabilities to the team, and overseeing the creative development of company & Department
Requirements: Proven graphic design/layout skills across multiple mediums
6-10 Years of experience as a design with increasing responsibility
Leadership skills/management experience
Enjoys working with people in a team environment
Attention to detail
Able to handle constructive criticism
Adobe Creative Cloud (Proficiency in AI, ID, PS)
Adept in Brand Development & UX/UI design
Public Speaking Experience a plus
Adept in Microsoft Office
Ability to lead team meetings
Bachelor’s degree preferred
