Graphic Designer (Web) | Sr. Interactive Web Designer

Our client a rapidly growing Los Angeles-based Internet start-up in health and fitness. We have world-class venture backers who’ve also funded Twitter, Tumblr and Foursquare. We are a young and creative company working with globally recognized brands on on a very innovative product.

Summary of Job Requirements:

As a Sr. Interactive Web Designer you will work closely with the product marketing, marketing and technical teams to establish and maintain visual integrity, user experience, brand standards, and consistency. In order to be effective you must have a strong sense of effective web design. You must also have strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills.

Responsibilities:

o Responsible for design and implementation of various aspects of our online presence, such as web user interface design, page layouts, promotional landing pages, email campaigns, banner ads (including Flash), and other online components for our services.
o Interfacing with key internal stakeholders to ensure the user experience reflects customer needs
o Translating product requirements into appealing design concepts and seeing projects through to completion, while maintaining a high level of accuracy, consistency and efficiency
o Since we’re a small team you will have plenty of opportunity to impact design direction and grow with the role; and
o You must also be hard-working, self-motivated and relish the opportunity to work on a ground-breaking service;

Required Skills / Experience

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in graphic design, UI/UX design or related field is a must.
• Minimum of 2-3 years experience in online design at an agency, studio, internal design department, or contractual work.
• Ideal candidate has strong knowledge of what's possible with AJAX, CSS and has background in designing web 2.0 sites
• Strong typography skills are a must.
• Strong ability to take requirements and independently carry the vision into your designs;
• Strong ability and desire to take on design direction role when required;
• Strong ability to align your designs with the brand, product, and sales/marketing requirements and the target demographic;
• Experience interfacing between engineers, product and marketing/sales functions;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Professional attitude and capable of hitting hard deadlines and delivering high quality work on a consistent basis; and
• Excellent experience with Photoshop (ideally also with Flash, but not a must).
Preferred Skills / Experience

• Knowledge of HTML and CSS would be a major bonus;
• Strong knowledge of designing for print;
• Bachelor's degree in fine arts, graphic arts, UI/UX design or related discipline preferred;
• Interest in Web 2.0 design philosophy and latest consumer web trends; and
• Interest in social media, social networking, web advertising and mobile trends.
