Graphic Designer (Part time)

VitaminT has a great part-time opportunity for a freelance Graphic Designer located in the loop. The qualified talent is needed to work 10 to 20 hours a week until the end of the year. Will be working with a team of designers
• Assist in the design and production of brochures, postcards, forms, trade show displays, ad and marketing campaign materials, catalogs and other printed materials as assigned within identity standards.
• Participate in all phases of the design process, concept through execution.
• Create design solutions that successfully meet marketing and communications needs within budget parameters.
• Oversee/carry out production work.
• Be responsible for the layout, design and production activities to produce quality graphic-design artwork. Requires working knowledge of graphic-design equipment. May contact vendors to verify print specifications.
• Perform complex graphics design duties requiring planning, scheduling and implementation of graphic design projects related to marketing collateral and packaging. Reviews design drafts, proofs camera-ready art and ensures proper pagination and color assignment.
• Apply established branding specifications to ensure work meets organization’s guidelines.
• Plan, schedule and implement non-complex graphic design projects for marketing collateral and packaging.
• Troubleshoot production problems and interact with organization’s staff and outside vendors.
• Prepare job specification forms, perform press checks and review blue lines.
• Create slide presentations, icons and other graphics for the organization’s products; assist in the creation of graphic elements used in product demos.
• Coordinate and ensure materials’ approval with in-house legal and marketing staff.
• Prepare mock-ups on a project-by-project basis.
• Assist with the maintenance of archive of design projects as specified by Senior Graphics Designer.
• Prepare web-ready graphics and files for web site when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned to expedite the production of materials published by the company
• Fulfill chapter and member corporate identify requests. This includes ads, templates, collateral and business materials to support chapters and member business needs.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Artistic capacity; strong verbal, visual and written communication skills
• A strong portfolio that showcases examples of best work
• Ability to work independently and to meet strict deadlines and budgets
• Proactive approach, positive attitude, commitment to excellence
• Knowledge of best practices combined with flexibility and open-mindedness
• Ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Reliable, dependable, professional approach and demeanor; able to interact smoothly and effectively with staff, organization’s members and vendors
• Bachelor of Fine Arts or very similar degree in graphic design or closely related field is strongly preferred; at least a certificate or associate's degree in graphic design or closely related field is required.
• At least 3 years of paid, full-time, post-graduate experience in graphic design
• Expert knowledge of Mac-based software: Adobe CS5/CS6 InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Additional skills required in Microsoft Office applications.
