Graphic Designer

This position is responsible for developing and designing marketing collateral that support the business objectives of the Category teams, Product Marketing and Packaging Artwork Development. The role has responsibility for defining objectives, establishing project plans and timelines and completing tasks as assigned. This position also has a key role in developing and maintaining standards, guidelines and imagery for company-owned product or packaging artwork.

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Supports Category teams by collaborating on the timely development and creation of product training and marketing materials to include point of sale, brochures, banners and other related collateral. Must be able to work independently and constructively, according to strict timelines, with Company Merchandising leaders on the creation of tactical category collateral such as product specific brochures, catalogs, videos, and training assets.
o Copy writing and graphic design acumen must be used and knowledge and visual / verbal application of food and culinary insights is critical.
• Develops packaging artwork standards and designs packaging vignettes and layouts for company-owned trademarked packaging and proprietary assets.
o Responsible for system-wide asset uploads, tracking usage, and trouble-shooting any field designer issues.
• Informs and may manage the Image and Item data collection processes and resources for product imagery used in web-based and mobile order entry systems.
• Provides select image content and assists as needed with image manipulation for company's appropriate utilization within agreed to standards and timelines.
• Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment.
• Completes select projects by coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops (virtual or in-person); reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Indirect marketing vendor supervision

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year College or University and a minimum 2 years of experience.
Advanced degree preferred or a combination of education and work experience.
Language and Presentation Skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers including restating objectives, understanding goals and timelines.
• Must be able to copy write and edit with a professional and informed culinary tone.
• Must be able to accept constructive criticism or rejection of design concepts.

Required Job Knowledge and/or Experience
• Proficiency in multi-media design technology platforms and software including
o Platforms: Windows and Mac
Adobe creative suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After effects, Fireworks, Light Room, Premiere.
o Traditional art: Printmaking, Drawing, Silk Screening, Painting (all medias), Sewing, Bookmaking
Photography: Film and Digital
o Other: Final Cut Pro, HTML, Flash, Microsoft suite
• Organized and able to complete projects without direct supervision and within agreed to timelines
• Have a good working relationship with Category business units and other company business units as required including Sales & Marketing, CMU, and IT
• Adaptable and flexible to accommodate continuous change

Travel
No regular travel is required with this position.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste and smell. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
