Global Design Manager/Art Director

World-renowned, global medical device organization is actively seeking a Creative Services Art Director to be a key member of the Global Marketing Services Division.

The Creative Services Art Director, reporting to the Director of Global Creative Services, establishes the overarching creative style and conceptual direction for global design staff and orchestrates their work and also executes high level design. The Creative Services Art Director will design and execute global print and electronic materials and maintain the equity and integrity of the organization's brand. This manager-level employee will work with internal design staff and external resources to translate marketing objectives into creative strategies and designs while ensuring flawless delivery of creative campaigns and projects. This position sets a broad forward-thinking vision for design and disseminates it to the global team while collaborating with them to develop and implement the creative output that supports this vision. Position is located in Waltham, MA, USA.

Primary responsibilities:
• Creates original ideas and concepts; directs artistic executions; executes design work
• Is a key resource for fresh ideas
• Has a thorough knowledge of emerging media and design trends, and solid experience working in these media
• Motivates and mentors internal creative team and external designers, writers and other creative resources
• Ensures creative output meets expectations and delivers on business objectives
• Drives and maintains high-level department standards
• Collaborates with colleagues and clients throughout the creative process
• Develops landing pages, advertising banners, email and other emerging media campaigns as needed in collaboration with web team
• Sources external resources

• Proven capacity to translate creative briefs into concepts and headlines
• Thorough knowledge and experience in creating effective designs for traditional media (print, pack and label, trade shows and congresses, instructional design support, electronic, direct mail/marketing, interactive and collateral) as well as social media, digital platforms and emerging media including mobile, tablet and web
• Global pack and label design and creative experience (B to B and B to C)
• Outstanding design execution skills

• Bachelors degree in Marketing, Advertising, Design or related field
• 10+ years related experience leading an agency or in-house creative team
• Advanced knowledge and experience with branding, including master brand philosophy, co-branding and rebranding for all areas of design
• High level of creative and design execution skills and the keen ability to recognize these abilities in staff and others
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign and key digital design platforms
• Expert knowledge of production, printing, graphic design, typography, and visual art
• Experience designing for digital platforms and emerging media
• Experience creating visual designs for web-based adult learning, LMS and instructional design platforms
• Thorough high-level knowledge of photography including photo editing
• Experience sourcing and evaluating creative resources such as illustrators, designers, photographers, etc.
• Pack and label design and creative experience (both B2B and B2C)
• Experience creating effective designs for large international trade shows
• Ability to conceptualize and execute under tight timelines, as well as manage deadlines and expectations
• Must work well as part of a team with a range of people
• Excellent communication, organizational and presentation skills
• Experience in the medical device or other medical field a plus
• Specific global/multi-national design experience a must
• Cross-cultural experience a plus
