Global Design Manager (Packaging/Strategy)

A global consumer packaged goods company is looking for a Global Design Manager. This would be an on-site position at the company's NYC headquarters and would be a temp-to-hire position.

As a core competency, the Design Manager demonstrates brand design knowledge and an experienced understanding of strategic brand communication needs for their assigned brands in the category. The Design Manager must have a clear understanding of how to translate creative strategy into effective design solutions that meet marketing and business objectives in a cohesive manner for
US and Global Divisions.

While managing projects from initial brief to completed production and all daily activities in between, the design manager has the added responsibility of supporting and keeping informed the senior manager on all projects they are assigned to.

This individual reports to the Senior Design Manager of Global Brand Design & Packaging.

Primary Responsibilities:
•Help develop and direct strategy in concert with Senior Design Manager of Global Brand Design
•Assist Marketing in developing Creative Briefs.
•Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional business partners –remotely.
•Organize and deliver presentations.
•Coordinate and monitor project timelines.
•Obtain estimates and manage project budgets effectively.
•Be responsible for maintaining standards and brand equity consistencies for ALL activities against
an assigned brand.
•Assume smooth project transition from the design phase to the production phase.
•Form trusting partner relationships with cross functional departments such as Marketing, Global Packaging Group, Print Production Manager and Production Partners to ensure smooth workflow on all assigned projects.
•Manage direct suppliers (photographers, Illustrators, internal and external design and production partners).
•Contribute design solutions through sketches, concepts and final computer-generated layouts as necessary.

Other Responsibilities:
•Enforce and maintain the company's design standards.
•Live the company's core values and hold others accountable for following them.
•Interact with internal and external Design resources and Production partners to ensure smooth workflow
and maintain design standards.
•Participate in weekly design status meetings.
•Demonstrate a working knowledge of various packaging regulations.
•Assist Sr. Design Manager to mentor and develop design management skills of Associate Design Managers.
•Recruit and mange interns to educate and involve them in the design process.
•Ensure Purchase Authorizations orders are completed and initiated properly.
•Maintain accurate and timely project documentation and filing of critical information.
•Ability to travel 25%.

•BFA Degree from Design Specific College.
•Mac skills a must.
•8+ years branding and packaging experience.
•CPG Experience
