Global Brand Marketing Manager

My client is looking for someone to manage Brand Marketing for its Marketplaces division. This role will support Global Brand coordination and management activities for brand leadership.

This is a 12-month contract role with strong potential to roll over to perm in 2015. Candidates must be able to sit on-site in the San Jose, CA, office (sorry, remote candidates cannot be considered).

Brand Marketing Objectives:
• Grow Brand awareness and preference for the eBay Brand to drive market share premium.
• Executes strategic planning and coordination of marketing and other teams, in alignment with global brand strategy
• Maximize Brand Equity / Brand Asset Value and Brand Energy for the brand among consumers, business-to-business customers and Team Members.
• Creates and manages the Brand Marketing budgets, to ensure that the budget is invested effectively and not exceeded. Ensures timely reporting and analysis
• Develop and/or implement regional or global tools to support hotels achieving their goals.
• Be the central point of review of all Branding material and lead and coordinate the review function.
• Lead various assorted brand initiatives for teams that need this, including brand identity development, brand positioning and brand strategy

Leadership and Coordination Objectives:
• Directs the development and administration eBay brand marketing.
• Directs and implements proper processes and controls to ensure that brand guidelines and managed and brand standards are maintained.
• Lead management of the Brands Champions Program to build a system for management of the brand of Brand leaders within eBay
• Directs the grouping and assignment of tasks, while ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
Ensures communication plan as established by department head is properly executed.
• Oversee and evaluate brand process to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the department.
• Manage the cross-functional links between Brand Marketing and Regional Brand Heads, other cross functional partners.
• Ensure close links and coordination with the Product and Technology teams for branding
• Implements direction by executive management to ensure the overall strategic direction of marketing and agency teams is consistent with Brand Guidelines and Strategy
• Develops highly strategic communications plans of key messages to internal stakeholders that include company and global
• Provides direction and directives to various internal marketing teams in eBay as relates to the eBay Brand Marketing which can include advertising and promotions, web site and channel/distribution, team members in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities and in achieving management objectives.
• Ensures brand plan and goals are being followed and achieved, providing feedback or revising the plan, if needed

Other Objectives:
• Directs the planning, development and implementation of brand communications effectiveness research, as needed, in support of core marketing goals.
• Determines staffing needs and oversees the recruiting, selecting, hiring, training and developing of departmental team members.
• Lead development and dissemination of brand training and of communication of the Brand objectives/ strategy in the eBay organization
What are we looking for?

6. Ability to evaluate and identify opportunities from a strategic perspective, including ability to develop, prioritize and implement plans to meet organization's core strategic goals.
7. Ability to assimilate new concepts and practices into position and the department and provide effective training to subordinates for on-the-job training, policies and procedures, departmental training topics and professional development.
8. Understanding of the principles and practical application of branding, positioning and differentiation.
9. Ability to work independently and manage the independent work of other team members as appropriate; includes the ability to recognize need for involvement of other teams/peers and capability to effectively facilitate that collaboration.
10. A self-starter with high integrity and personal standards with the drive and determination to succeed and the ability to create the right environment through enthusiasm and respect
11. Extremely well organized and detailed oriented
12. Excellent influencing skills and an ability to gain buy in from all relevant stakeholders.
13. A strong, pro-active team player who has managed teams who is able to pull a team together and communicate the goals, gain buy in and support.
14. An ability to innovate and delegate implementation through involving other employees / team members

Required Qualifications / Experience
1. Significant experience in brand marketing management roles, particularly at a leadership level with a major brand
2. Global brand marketing experience. Experience in managing teams and projects remotely or in different global offices.
3. Proven leadership ability with multifunctional work groups, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
4. Preferable Master’s degree in Marketing / Branding from a major business school
