Gameplay Designer

As a Gameplay Designer, you will be a part of the Creation team responsible for collaboratively designing, implementing, and balancing playable and unique 3rd-person action adventure characters for players to make their own stories. You will communicate and coordinate with designers, artists, programmers, producers and others to drive the vision and creation from start to finish.

We are seeking passionate gameplay designers with extensive programming and scripting experience and excellent problem solving skills. You should feel comfortable working with traditional game editors and scripting languages and have a good understanding of game engines, technology and the game development process. You are expected to be able to work independently as you critically evaluate your gameplay to find ways to make it better.

Responsibilities
• Design, build and balance compelling moment-to-moment gameplay for unique playable characters in a 3rd-person action adventure game.
• Use our proprietary scripting engine to implement playable character actions and abilities that creatively stretch the capabilities of our project.
• Work with audio, visual effects, and animation artists to make in-game cause and effect clear to players.
• Collaborate with the production team and relevant stakeholders to drive new playable characters through the entire planning, development, and review process.
• Embrace the commitment of your team to achieve goals that are in alignment with the creative direction of the game.

Requirements
• Strong programming skills (Computer Science undergraduate degree preferred)
• 1+ years of action game development experience with at least 1 shipped title
• Demonstrated familiarity with modern game editors such as Unreal or Unity
• Experience with languages such as C++, C#, Lua, Javascript, Python and/or proprietary scripting languages
• History of developing optimized and efficient gameplay content
• Strong 3D math skills and the ability to express 3D ideas in a 2D space
• Intuitive understanding of how fast paced combat games work and why people play them
• Experience brainstorming, rapidly prototyping, and iterating on combat gameplay
• Great oral and written communication skills
