Game Script Writer

Urgent need for a vendor writer for a voice-over script for a high-end car racing game. The game studio is going into recording sessions starting a few weeks (middle of March) and they’re looking for a writer who has experience writing for voice actors. That’s a specific skill set, which requires some experience to understand (for example, “rear-wheel drive” is hard to say in the recording studio). The game studio would also like to use the writer for additional UI Text (examples in the attached RFP) if they have the ability.

Ideally this writer will:
• Have experience writing VO scripts. If they have experience writing for a female character about highly technical and exciting subjects, that’s ideal. (The trick is to make the female narrator competent and fun.)
• Love high-performance cars and racing.
• Exhibit the ability to be flexible and quick.
• Can clarify on points of contention and ask the right questions.
• Demonstrates the ability to suss out the right content and tone through iteration and feedback.
• Has the ability to convey why a car exists and encourage players to drive it. (What makes it exciting/badass?)

The game studio would like to get writing samples or give a quick writing test to evaluate candidate skill level. They’ll be looking for a writer who can write the best 60-second script about a specific race car, hit all the beats, and arrive at a style that appeals to both hard-core race fans and to a broader audience. After they receive the samples/tests, they’ll be reading those into a studio microphone to evaluate the quality of the spoken results.
