GREAT Business Partnership Marketing Lead

Background
Strategic Marketing provides high quality strategic marketing advice to Ministers and policy teams so that messages about BIS (are clearly presented for audiences and deliver maximum impact via the most effective channel. We develop and deliver multi-media marketing campaigns across a range of policy areas and work with a range of other departments on cross-government initiatives. We also work closely with a number of key BIS partners to ensure that their activity accurately reflects BIS priorities. We are responsible for protecting the BIS brand.

Main Duties/ Responsibilities
Strategic management of a number of key GREAT partnerships: leading on the relationships with company/institutions, mapping their business requirements across BIS and HMG priorities in order to leverage the brands domestically; liaising with No 10 GREAT team and OGDs to align activities, and ensuring coherence across the campaign in order to fully maximise return. Follow up on a number of smaller tactical interventions: as unique opportunities arise for one-off engagements with eg. a company or theme or geographical region, to deliver on the short-term project, closing the deal and aligning the activities to the high-level strategy. Capitalising on the expansive reach of the campaign to further HMG’s objectives relating to the Growth agenda Advising No. 10 and GREAT partners on how to get the most out of the relationships you manage, steering our engagement and managing the expectations of our network.

Outputs/ Deliverables to be achieved
Commercial engagement: dealing first hand with contacts at all levels, including Marketing Directors, CEOs and specialist staff. You will need to understand their priorities and help to steer them so that their ambitions overlap with ours. You will need to think strategically and creatively, and be flexible and decisive – we’ll be trusting your judgement to get the very best out of each of the relationships you manage. - Working across government: with policy and communication leads in BIS, DWP, HMRC, UKTI and Cabinet Office. You will be expected to ensure that you link in with other partnership teams across other government departments. - Working with No.10: The GREAT campaign is where government campaigning comes together – from the targeted efforts of VisitBritain on tourism to our broader cultural platform. The overall effort is coordinated and steered by No. 10 with personal support and oversight by the Prime Minister and senior Ministers. You will work closely with the GREAT partnership team. - Campaigning: you will work directly with a number of Private Sector experts through whom we are professionalising our skills base (especially digital, PR, marketing, programme management and evaluation).
