Fullstack Web Developer

The Fullstack Developer is part of the central web team and works to implement web technologies such as websites, applications, and related and integrated web services. The Web Developer will perform roles in planning, development, and managing integrated web-based
technology and offer solutions for integrated web services in the institution's technology environment. The Web Developer position will work closely with the Senior Web Administrator to provide a supporting role when needed. The Web Developer position helps create and manage applications using PHP/MySQL that can be used by any managed website or web systems.

Project management skills and the ability to complete projects involving numerous stakeholders are necessary. The Web Developer needs experience with programming and web database languages in order to plan and implement features involving multiple technologies and platforms, including those using open-source products. On larger initiatives (such as website redesigns) the Web Developer will also be called on to work with peers and consultants to define website technology needs and implement to completion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Website Oversight and Technical Development
a. Responsible for helping to oversee the academic websites at institution and integrating technology services and systems that will enhance the experience for site visitors over time.
b. Develops web pages and applications (MySQL/PHP) for the institution’s website as directed.
c. Creates CMS templates from provided designs and implements on website; converts raw images and layouts from a graphic designer into HTML/CSS files including dynamic elements.
d. Works with IT to identify the need for centralized dynamic database-driven web technologies whenever appropriate.
e. Ensures that the visual presentation and content of websites reflects and enhances the overall branding, visual identity practices, and marketing plan of the institution.
f. Tests websites thoroughly. Ensures sites function properly across a variety of browsers and devices, and performs site validation checks.

2. Technology Integration
a. Works collaboratively with technical peers to recommend new features on the website including web technologies as well as cross-platform technologies.
b. Creates and follows through on project scoping to outline milestones and deliverables to peers and customers.
c. Tests and evaluates web-based technologies; assesses the feasibility of these technologies and software, and makes recommendations.
d. Works with vendors and customers to acquire files and necessary website assets and integrates them into the site.
e. Serves a role in improving and enhancing the business processes of areas across company; this can include creating online systems and technologies that make it possible for site visitors to interact with the website to submit or provide information.

3. Website Planning
a. Works with vendors and customers to acquire files and necessary website assets and integrates them into the site.
b. Meets with clients (faculty, staff, and students) to make recommendations on advanced, interactive, and engaging features on the main website.
c. Responsible for technology advising to continually improve websites; this includes advising of web leadership/peers as well as customers.
