Front End Developer

Vitamin T is looking for a contract Front End Developer, you will be responsible for creating HTML markup, CSS presentations, and JavaScript interactions using standards-compliant development techniques. You will work with a comprehensive team including other developers, designers and project managers, as well as external clients. This position for one of our fantastic clients located in downtown Seattle and is slated to run for 3 months with the possibility of extending.

Essential Job Functions:

Utilize superior understanding of HTML and CSS as well as semantic markup and web standards to act as a team contributor;
Work with technical leads and user experience architects to understand and translate wireframes and architectural requirements;
Act as a team member and collaborator to ensure the best possible solution for the client;
Interact with clients as needed to explain, translate and communicate technical issues and clarifications.
Required Skills:

Experience with WordPress, including skills using back-end;
Demonstrable expertise in standards-compliant semantic HTML and CSS;
Demonstrable skills in standards-compliant development techniques;
Experience with Javascript and the Document Object Model (DOM);
Experience working with complex Photoshop documents and the ability to slice out the images needed to create site;
Experience managing Mail Services such as MailChimp and AWebber;
Experience with both Dreamweaver and text editors such as BBEdit;
Experience with cross-browser HTML and CSS and an understanding of browser-specific quirks and solutions;
Experience documenting your work;
Clear and proactive communication skills;
The ability to work with minimal supervision and ask questions;
Basic understanding of programming concepts and database interaction;
The desire to learn and improve your skills.
Preferred Skills:

Experience with JavaScript libraries such as jQuery;
Experience on large enterprise-level projects;
Experience with Ruby on Rails, ColdFusion, Java, .NET and/or Perl;
Experience with content management systems;
Experience with responsive design;
Experience with Joomla and Drupal;
Experience with mobile website development;
Experience with source control systems such as SVN, or GIT;
Preference for the Mac OS.
