Front End Developer

Our global consulting client is looking for a passionate UX Front End Developer who is excited about shaping the future of enterprise software. You will be providing support around the current presentation layer approach. This approach consists of a patented multi-layered stylesheet approach, images, javascript and HTML coding patterns used to provide the look and feel for many of the Software products.

The UX Developer’s responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
– Design Tasks
o Review the wireframes for compliance with current standards
o Make sure that new styles are created by the time the product development team needs them for product development
o Will be expected to learn the product inside and out from a technical level. Advise the UX functional designer on the feasibility of a page design from a technical perspective
– Styles Development
o Build the application specific styles
o Work with the other UX team members to ensure new styles meet the product's needs
– Product Team page development support
o Provide UX technical support for the product team
o Participate in the product team's development meetings
o Advise the product team on UX technical best practices
o Conduct and/or coordinate training for new team members in a timely fashion
o Keep the product team informed on what's upcoming in future release of the presentation layer
o Help the team upgrade to new versions of the ASW Styles
o Ensure that the product team is aware of page updates that are required to be compatible with new versions of the presentation layer. Review that changes have been performed
o Build relationships with the product technical leads
– Quality Assurance
o Review the product level styles created by the Product Style Developer
o Coordinate with the product QA team to ensure that app level styles work properly
o Coordinate with the product QA team to review impacts of updating to new versions of the presentation layer
o Spot check the technical quality of the pages (the product team members are responsible for quality, but may not have an eye for spotting interface problems)
o Raise product UX problem reports where pages have not been built to the design

Travel Requirements: Up to 25%, typically Monday through Thursday

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree required - preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree
• Advanced understanding of HTML, CSS, Javascript and jQuery
• Have a portfolio of your work that includes coding samples and final user interfaces
• Minimum 3 years work experience in a Developer role at a software company
• Minimum 2 years working with user experience designers
• Minimum of 2 years managing a team of 1 or more developers
• Familiar with technology packages and their impact to creating quality user experiences

Preferred Skills:
• Experience developing large scale enterprise software applications
• Experience in Insurance or Healthcare and Public Service industries
• Experience with software development tools (Eclipse), architectures (Spring MVC/Portal), and programming languages (Java, .Net) of the software product you will be supporting
