Front End Developer

One of our clients, a Fortune 500 home retailer, is looking for a Front End Developer to handle HTML production for their Ecommerce site! This SIX MONTH contract is a great way to gain coveted experience!

Details:
This person will work hand-in-hand with the designers to translate the layered Photoshop files into the appropriate HTML/CSS (first staged as HTML and later then entered/scheduled in our CMS). This is primarily a production role, and the focus is on accuracy, cross-browser compatibility and speed. However, the front end developer will partner with design and business functions and will be the “grease” between the wheels: co-own the product with partners, advise on technical issues, and find solutions to technical and usability challenges.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Translate approved PSD files into CMS-ready HTML/CSS assets
• Drive review/approval cycle of finalized and scheduled assets
• Autonomously manage your deliverables and schedule
• Partner with producer and designers to review concepts with an eye toward production as well as usability
• Educate designers and business owners on best practices to deliver best possible user experience
• Develop new user-interface functionality as requested, by hand-coding OO Javascript and/or leveraging 3rd party libraries
• Delegate work to temp-HTML developer as needed and mentor him in tools and processes
• Help diagnose/fix front end issues (CSS/Javascript) as they arise

Job Requirements:
• Self-directed, works effectively with minimal supervision
• 3+ years experience in a fast-paced production environment
• 4 years experience hand-coding HTML, CSS, Javascript (or demonstrable expertise)
• Demonstrated experience translating a layered PSD into optimized image assets and browser-safe CSS and HTML
• 2+ years experience with Javascript frameworks and libraries
• Experience working with CMS and templated websites, demonstrated ability to "work around" a system's limitations
• Well versed with browser and email-client idiosyncrasies and limitations
• Handles short time frames well and delivers on time – without mistakes
• Excellent contributor who is adept at working with cross-functional teams
• Exemplary work ethic, a sense of humor
