Interaction Designer/Front End Developer

This is an on-site, 10 month contract with possibility of permanent.

High level skills in hand coded HTML/CSS.
Proficiency in either Javascript or a javascript library.

Analyze, test and debug web applications.
Make modifications to current web programs and graphics as needed.
Assist in building new applications using Internet and Windows Development Tools.
Draft documentation for program requirements and design, test plans and test results.
Assist in developing and implementing related applications components including front-end development, server side development and database integration.
Work with other IT groups to obtain programming, maintenance and technical support services for the assigned Web-based applications.
Assist in establishing and communicating web standards to manage cost and ensure continuity of applications.
Coordinate with outside vendors in providing services and developing tests to ensure feature functionality.
Research, track and stay abreast of new web technologies to provide input in developing service applications and analyzing business requirements.
Participate with the IT team and others in the longer term planning for Web application enhancements.
May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Core Duties/Responsibilities:

• Creating the experience and interaction design for transactional, informational, and marketing web and mobile sites
• Understanding target audiences' needs, tasks, and goals and translating them into creative concepts and functional components
• Working closely with different business units to translate business requirements into meaningful interactive experiences
• Collaboratively developing prototypes for demonstration of concepts to clients
• Developing and documenting detailed user experience specifications for highly interactive interfaces
• Participating in User Experience thought leadership in both the company and the industry

Skills Required Skills:
· Demonstrated experience translating user research into design decisions
• Demonstrated experience using web analytics data to inform design decisions
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• High tolerance for ambiguity matched only by your desire to organize it

This position interacts with equivalent levels of internal customers and some external vendors. That interaction requires good oral communication and customer service skills in identifying needs and implementing effective solutions that satisfy various customers. Effectiveness in this role also requires general knowledge of corporate and communications strategies and relevant Web-based application programs and programming languages. The incumbent works on problems of moderate scope and complexity requiring analysis of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies. The incumbent normally receives general instruction on routine work and detailed instruction on new assignments

Education Qualifications
4+ years professional experience as an interactive designer / user experience designer; expertise in both information architecture and visual design
Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in design or a related field strongly preferred
An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions
Proficient skill level in the standard tools of the design trade, e.g. Photoshop, Fireworks, Visio, Omnigraffle, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and HTML/CSS
Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques
