LOCATION: Oakland CA

CONTRACT: Monday- Friday || 40 hours/week || 6+ Months

General Overview:
We’re looking for a front-end developer to handle content and marketing production for our Ecommerce site. This role works hand-in-hand with the other developers, designers, producers and business owners on executing homepage updates, marketing promotional messaging, landing pages, and one-off UX projects. This is primarily a production role with multiple projects and tasks being juggled daily, so speed and quality is a must. This role also partners with design and business functions and is the “grease” between the wheels: you co-own the product with your partners, advise on technical issues, and find solutions to technical and usability challenges.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Determine feasibility of interactive design proposals
• Slice approved PSD files into optimized assets and build needed HTML/CSS to meet weekly production schedule
• Code HTML/CSS and use of our CMS admin tool (MarketLive)
• Use and continually keep on top of best practices for compatibility, usability, and accessibility
• Collaborate with designers and business owners to deliver best possible user experience
• Develop new user-interface functionality as requested, by hand-coding OO JavaScript and/or leveraging 3rd party libraries
• Proficient with Photoshop (slicing and optimizing web-ready images)
• Strong html/css/javascript debugging skills using Chrome Developer Tools or Firebug
• Strong familiarity with WordPress preferred


Job Requirements:
• 2+ years experience in a fast-paced production environment
• 4 years experience hand-coding HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Demonstrated experience translating a layered PSD into optimized image assets
• 2+ years experience with JavaScript frameworks and libraries
• Experience working with CMS and template-based websites
• Experience with Responsive Designs and Mobile Development is a plus
• Experience with API integration a plus
• Well versed with cross browser testing.
• Self-directed and works effectively with minimal supervision
• Handles short time frames well and delivers on time
• Excellent contributor who is adept at working with cross-functional teams
• Exemplary work ethic and sense of humor
