Front End Dev Manager

We are currently looking for a highly skilled, creative developer and manager with great leadership qualities to lead the company’s Front End development team. You will get to work with and lead a fun, highly skilled team to develop solutions to an array of challenges for both large, high visibility clients as well as small, innovative and agile ones.
You have experience, exposure, and expectations. You have a broad exposure to different technologies and architectures which will help to navigate the array of challenges that will surface. From all that practice you have a deep understanding of key front end technologies which compliment that breadth when constructing technical and interaction solutions.
You are brave. You do not shy away from a challenge. In fact you crave them. We are constantly pushing the envelope for our clients to create the most innovative and forward thinking ways for them to reach and serve their clients.
You are efficient. Understanding and using repeatable processes makes you fast and your code bulletproof. More importantly: it gives you the time to invent. We are process driven which is continuously refactored.
You code. Part of leading the team will be taking on a leadership development position in the most challenging projects we have to offer.
You grow, and help your team grow professionally and creatively. Great developers are curious about and in front of changing technology. In addition to contributing to the refinement of the team’s skills through mentoring, you will introduce new technologies and approaches to ensure the company and the team are always striving and working to be ahead of the curve and delivering the best possible solutions for our clients. Active participation in the development community and specifically front end technologies demonstrates this commitment.
You collaborate. A great partner and participant is a must for every project you are involved in. The ability to overlap and influence adjacent disciplines such as back end development, design and information architecture will contribute greatly to the success of this position.
You love what you do.
Technical skills:
• In depth knowledge of the DOM and browser capabilities and facility to identify solutions to work with their limitations.
• Expert knowledge of progressive enhancement and responsive design
• Expert knowledge of CSS3 and HTML5 features and when to use them
• Expert knowledge of Ajax and how to integrate with web services to provide the end user with an interactive native-application-like experience through the browser
• Knows best practices interacting with platform-independent data (JSON, XML, YAML, etc)
• Proficient with a CSS Preprocessor such as Sass (or other CSS frameworks)
• Frameworks – Bootstrap, Foundation. Grids in general.
• jQuery pro
• Precompile via scripts or utility code like codekit
• Git and SVN
• Templating languages (i.e., mustache)
Non-Technical
Experience working in a fast paced, creative environment. Consulting experience is preferred.
• Curiosity for developing technologies. Experienced at distinguishing bleeding edge from production ready technologies and approaches.
• Scrum Master or familiarly with best practices for adding Front End creative value in an agile process to ensure strong collaboration with clients and a cross-functional team
• Demonstrated community participation in MeetUps either speaking, contributing or organizing.
• Technical writing. Ability to regularly contribute to our blog.
• Strong written and oral communication; comfortable interfacing and communicating with clients, developers, sales team, information architects and project managers.
