Marketing Editor

The Editor serves as an integral link between financial writers, internal partners and other areas of Creative Services. The focus of the position is on editing and rewriting copy that has come directly from staff writers and internal partners.

Responsibilities

• Edit draft copy written by clients and internal and external writers with overall positioning strategy, product information, compliance considerations, house style and standard grammar in mind
• Build a deep understanding of the firm’s Thought Leadership materials, in order to better edit them for consistency and in a format that resonates across print and web media
• Work with Thought Leadership contributors with overall positioning strategy, product information, compliance considerations, house style and standard grammar in mind
• Work with writers and designers to develop and refine editorial concepts – determine which themes are important
• Work with rest of creative team to ensure concept and design in sync
• Work with clients/account executives throughout each stage of project to manage client comments and maintain integrity of project

Competencies for Success

• At least 10 years experience as an editor, at least 5 of which should be in the financial services industry, preferably in mutual funds and related products
• Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage a large number of projects simultaneously
• The ability to think like a target content consumer, intuitively understanding what the audience needs
• Ability to make copy sing—from sprucing up the lead and subheads to adding a strong kicker, where appropriate
• BA/BS required
• Excellent oral and written communications skills required
• Must be able to work toward and maintain tight deadlines
• Must be detail oriented, and a team player who can also work independently
• Strong interpersonal skills required
