Financial Copywriter

Our downtown San Diego client needs a copywriter with financial industry experience on a full-time, onsite, ongoing basis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
• Write and edit strategic, targeted and engaging content for websites, brochures, blogs, articles, newsletters, press releases, social media and email communication.
• Provide critical strategic thinking and creative problem solving expertise in the conceptualization and copywriting of creative solutions.
• Oversee marketing communications content to maintain a high level of quality, clarity, accuracy and consistency in tone and style.
• Partner with Marketing Strategist and Business Coordinator as necessary in facilitating projects and developing creative briefs and collaborate with colleagues on creative projects to ensure effective process and workflow.
• Research and develop concepts, content and messaging for a broad range of online and offline marketing channels.
• Review client documents and communication materials for proper punctuation, grammar and consistency provide suggestions for improvement.
• Be responsible for the quality control of all client projects and provide final approval for select projects.
• Ensure all marketing pieces are on target for the audience following best practices for the medium.
• Write, edit and proofread client blogs and articles and various printed materials such as brochures, flyers, sales sheets, invitations, press releases and PowerPoint presentations.
• Develop copy for PowerPoint presentations, email newsletters, charts and other visual materials.
• Ghost-write financial articles.
• Keep necessary records and prepare required reports.
• Handle routine projects often on a quick turnaround basis.
• Adhere strictly to established deadlines.
• Ensure continuity among the client’s external and internal communications.
• Complete in-house writing projects as required.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
• Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited four-year university or college in English, Communications, Journalism or equivalent is preferred.
• Copywriting experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
• Must have a strong portfolio demonstrating advanced conceptual and copywriting expertise for a variety of online and offline marketing materials. Must demonstrate an understanding of design and appreciate the relationship between textual and visual elements.
• Exceptional writing, grammar, spelling, editing and English skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with website content management systems and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as a team member.
