A privately held media/publishing company is seeking a Director of Creative Services to join their team in New York City.

The Executive Art Director as the brand's chief visual officer, responsible for setting the highest standards for the presentation of all print and digital products.

The Executive AD will be a can-do, hands-on, and visionary in the planning, design and production of high-impact editorial pages, compelling info graphics and other related editorial content - both in print and on digital platforms. The director is a skilled project manager and an expert in visual storytelling. He or she is always looking for ways to drive reader engagement and tell stories in interesting, new and unique ways.

The Executive Art Director duties will also include the planning, design and creation of graphic assets for their brands' other departments, including marketing, sales, data, research and audience development. Will also be responsible for cultivating a culture of visual experience within the brand. He or she will bring creativity, energy and a steady stream of ideas to all aspects of the news source.

Specific Duties:
- Establish creative direction for the entire brand
- Ensure that the print and online platforms have a cohesive look and tone
- Work with editor(s) to create a high-impact, compelling, landing pages, Page 1 and special report sections every week
- Develop and implement a strategy to utilize data visualization in print and online
- Be an active participant in daily news meetings and come up with ideas to utilize compelling, photos, illustrations, info graphics and other visual materials to augment all stories appearing online
- Oversee the visual presentation of e-newsletters, online special reports and other editorial content
- Assign, or find, illustrations, for all content appearing in print and online
- Build and maintain a common database of visual materials used online and in print
- Direct work of freelance graphic designers, artists and photographers

The successful candidate must have a minimum of five to seven years of print and online design and layout experience, preferably working on a fast-paced, news-based publication and website. The ideal candidate will have well-above-average proficiency in Quark 6.5+, Photoshop and Illustrator, HTML5 and CSS.
