Event Marketing Content Specialist

This TOP social media company, head-quartered in Menlo Park, CA, is seeking a Content Specialist to join their Events Marketing team for a 6 month contract. Salary: Up to $51.72hr DOE

Job Description:
The role of the Content Specialist in the Event Marketing department is a dynamic role that involves collaboration across multiple teams: Marketing (Partner, Strategic, Events, Communications, Product, Brand, Channel, Web), Design, Hardware, Software, Content Studios, Publishing and Compliance. It requires expertise in conference program design, adult learning theory and practice, technical session content, plus expert communication skills, an understanding of production timelines and and a holistic sense of what makes for quality speaking programs and excellent attendee outcomes.

Responsibilities:
• Own session content program design and scheduling for Company-owned conferences & events. Provide subject matter expertise to Event Marketing team for all conference and event session programming.
• Assemble and manage steering committee/track owners. Lead meetings to define tracks/topics and overall content goals. Meet with track owners to create wish list of invited content
• Create timeline to reach key milestones in content development
• Draft and manage program content, compile and edit program agenda, speaker information and assets. Liaise with XFN teams for review and approvals, format and publish program for web, mobile, app, registration system and onsite delivery.
• Create and manage speaker database and all speaker communications and confirmations. Manage all onsite speaker operations.
• Collaborate with registration team and vendor partners to design and execute seamless onsite speaker experience.
• Create and manage speaker forms, agreements and confirmation forms in coordination with legal, communications and other XFN teams. Negotiate terms with speakers when required by the business.
• Work closely with Communications team in the review/approval of session content and announcements and blog postings
• Schedule and execute speaker rehearsals and create dry-run schedule for internal speakers; coach speakers on delivery and presentation content
• Work closely with presentation designers to schedule presentation briefings and to ensure speakers are responsive to requests and designers’ timelines
• Work with AV vendor on speaker tech requirements, room sets, run-of-show for each classroom, and technical rehearsals
• Design session attendee surveys to measure content success and opportunities for improvement
• Act as quality assurance for all session content showcased at Oculus events and any assigned speaking engagements
• Research emerging trends in VR to identify, develop and analyze content categories, topics and potential sessions. Research other industry events to identify competitive advantage and plan session content accordingly.

Requirements:
• Self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with a diversity of backgrounds: creative, engineers, communications, marketers, event marketers, production vendors, IT, web services, agencies, etc.
• 3-5 years conference management experience in a similar B2B environment
• Excellent speaker relations.
• Strong computer software skills, including experience with gaming and digital entertainment content.
• Possess an established professional network of experts and potential speakers in relevant fields or markets.
• A proven track record of producing and or supporting large-scale content focused events.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment, juggling multiple priorities at once.
• Availability and willingness to travel
• Passion for VR.
• Education: BA or BS required
