Event Manager

Our technology client based in downtown Toronto is looking for an Event Manager on a contract basis. This person will be taking on current projects that are on the go. There's a possibility for this to become a full time role.

Some of the responsibilities include:

- Working with finance to reconcile budgets and billings for recent events and to clarify budgets and gaps for events in progress.

- Identifying new and / or re-engaging existing suppliers on events in progress (Hotel / Ground Transportation providers, etc).

- Identifying gaps and creating project plans and key milestones to execute events in progress or those further out on the horizon.

- Working with internal stakeholders and senior leaders to provide updates on event plans and gather input to shape the event experiences.

- Negotiating contracts in accordance with established budgets for the company's President's Club.



Requirements:

- University Degree, preferably in marketing, communications, or business administration. (an events certificate scores extra points)

- At least 7 years experience managing intimate as well as large, complex event formats, with full ownership responsibilities for planning, budget and execution.

- Knows the inner workings of hotel, banquet staff and travel planner management, and has destination travel and property knowledge.

- Is a superb negotiator and communicator who enjoys presenting to senior people and has a passion for event-related marketing.

- Is the poster child for organization, loves project management and also doesn’t mind keeping others on track.

- Loves leading and developing people, is decisive when needed and who embodies grace under pressure.

- Thrives on collaboration, problem solving and accomplishing shared goals.
