Enterprise Search Product Manager/Team Manager

The Search Product Manager/Team Manager leads a team in enhancing, extending and transforming the user experience of the search features on client’s website by contributing to a wide variety of projects that differ in size, scope, and complexity. This work requires knowledge of enterprise search best practices for user-centered design, as well as the ability to understand the client’s website search architecture and metadata strategy. It requires experience in search interface usability, interaction design and accessibility. The Search Product Manager/Team Manager works closely with technical and business resources to produce robust enterprise search capabilities for use by client’s members and the Internet public.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages the client’s website search team, which includes a search product owner/analyst for client’s site search, a product owner/analyst for doctor and location search, and a business consultant for domain/URL management.
• Works closely with Creative Services and product management and drives design patterns for client’s website search capabilities. Search capabilities include site search, doctor and location search, and search interfaces for health, drug, and class information on client’s website. The search capabilities must support the new technical framework for the Web site along with emerging enterprise-wide business needs.
• Collaborates with search team members, the content management team, product management, Creative Services, and business stakeholders to define and enhance search capabilities.
• Contributes to the development of the search strategy and roadmap and oversees execution to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Supports SEO requirements that are generated by our Marketing partners by developing requirements to optimize content and data quality on client’s website.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Work Experience

• 6-8 years experience with user-centric design of search interfaces. Experience with other search engines, especially Vivisimo/Velocity (IBM Data Explorer), is large plus.
• 4 - 6 years of key customer contact within enterprise search management and search architecture. B2C web experience is a big plus.
• 1-2 years of people management and 2-4 years of product and project management within enterprise search (excluding SEM/SEO).

• Comfortable with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Experience working with individuals with widely varying levels of technical and business knowledge.
• Negotiates effectively and professionally when project stakeholders have conflicting or competing priorities; adapts easily to different audiences.
• Able to manage both indirectly (management by influence and educating others) and directly (clear decisions when asked) within a large organization that is consensus driven.
• Knowledge of the health care and/or health insurance industry a big plus.
• Strong understanding and experience navigating IT processes, org charts, and accountabilities.


Functional/Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of search UX principles & best practices.
• Thorough knowledge of web search and user taxonomy policies, practices and systems.
