Employee Resource Group and Communications Specialist

A Global Diversity & Inclusion organization is seeking a Diversity & Inclusion Rep to join their team. This position will be located at their corporate headquarters in Falls Church, VA.

The individual will report to the Employee Resource Group (ERG) Program Manager and work in collaboration with hundreds of volunteer leaders, the HR community, business leaders, and executives to plan, execute and communicate initiatives that integrate diversity and inclusion efforts in the sectors and throughout the company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing administration of ERG records, promotion of events and activities, interaction with ERG leaders and sponsors consistent with the goals and objectives of the organization.

The individual will write internal communications that promote Global Diversity & Inclusion programs which will require the development and implementation of project plans, goals and objectives, identifying and tracking tasks, quantifying resources, and acquiring budget information, as well as timelines for completion. Travel will be required at 20% to support meetings with the Global D&I team and conferences.

For the ERGs, individual serves as a strategic advisor to ERG board members and executive sponsors. Specifically, individual will provide guidance and counsel to ensure activities align with ERG charters, HR policies and procedures, enterprise ERG program goals, long-range strategic goals and the human capital strategy framework.

Candidate should have excellent writing and editing skills, as well as strong organization and project-management skills. Individual will be responsible for developing and executing internal communication strategies and initiatives, among other responsibilities and projects. Candidate must be collaborative, creative and have the ability to juggle multiple priorities/projects. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in technology-based communication or similar background is preferred. Ability to work independently, self-directed and as part of a team is required with demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Candidate will serve as a Diversity & Inclusion focal point to build and present expert materials to councils, the HR community, a monthly audience of more than 200 ERG leaders, the Global Corporate Responsibility audience, etc.

Will also develop and maintain metrics supporting ERGs, support the Industry/Benchmark data analysis, and the ROI/Business Impact of Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
Write, edit and prepare employee messages and occasional executive messages and remarks as well as contribute to internal company publications and communications
Assist in the development and execution of strategic communications plans for programs, activities, organizations and events
Develop, execute and support communication strategies for new initiatives and existing employee programs that enhance employee inclusion
The individual will work toward long-range goals and objectives supporting D&I strategies, initiatives and programs that require extensive interactions with stakeholders to include: a geographically dispersed population of employees, ERG members, leaders and executive sponsors
