Email Marketing Manager - Outbound

Our top retail client is looking for a passionate, customer-driven, outbound marketing expert that will be responsible for defining and executing the company’s email, SMS and overall outbound digital marketing strategy that engages, nurtures, and drive customer loyalty. The manager will partner across teams to develop segment- and campaign-specific outbound direct marketing campaign strategies, programs and workflows that effectively deliver the right message to the right customer at the appropriate state in their consideration process to achieve business and marketing objectives.

Specifically, this position is responsible for:

• Developing, deploying and optimizing comprehensive outbound direct marketing programs that support the achievement of business and marketing results;
• Managing all aspects of outbound marketing calendars and editorial content planning;
• Planning, executing, and optimizing regular email and SMS marketing campaigns to drive customer engagement and retention;
• Tracking and analyzing email and SMS campaign metrics and tying budget, plans and programs to the achievement of agreed upon objectives;
• Establishing email and SMS standards, processes and best practices;
• Developing A/B and multi-variate test programs to increase customer acquisition and grow engagement, purchases, and loyalty amongst current shoppers and retailers;
• Overseeing all production and execution of email and SMS campaigns, including, but not limited to: design, development and deployment, and landing page development and publishing;
• Partnering with teams across the organization to effectively craft messaging, offers and creative that drive engagement, customer acquisition and retention;
• Aggressively testing subject lines, frequency, content and timing of communications to optimize performance;
• Sequencing and building trigger-based workflows for each defined persona with dynamic content to optimize engagement through testing;
• Leveraging domain expertise and using industry best practices to maintain a clean email and SMS list to minimize occurrences of unsubscribes, bounce rates and spam marks;
• Improving key metrics including marketable subscriber base, open rates, click rates, and conversions;
• Monitoring deliverability of subscriber interaction with emails, complaint rates, bounce rates and Sender Score rank to reduce risk of being blacklisted;

Required Skills and Experience

• 6+ years experience in demand generation and outbound marketing campaign execution, including 4+ years in consumer marketing; retail, hospitality or financial services industry experience a plus.
• Significant experience planning, launching and optimizing strategic acquisition and nurture programs.
• Expert level understanding of email marketing, inbound marketing, and outbound marketing. Direct mail experience a plus.
• Experience leveraging industry-leading marketing automation and CRM platforms (Eloqua, Silverpop, Marketo, Adobe Campaign (formerly Neolane) Salesforce.com, etc.).
• Proven experience establishing effective measurement and reporting programs that deliver insights to business partners enabling them to make informed decisions that increase program effectiveness.
• Proven experience scoping and documenting business and program requirements, time estimates for delivery and resource needs working closely with business partners and IT, and overseeing cross-functional teams to deliver against those requirements.
• Exceptional written and oral communications skills. Strong interpersonal skills well-developed organizational skills.
• Extensive experience creating compelling business cases and selling those into executive management teams.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and vendors to deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment.
• Basic HTML experience and competency.
• Expert user of excel and data analysis tools with an ability to rapidly digest and analyze data, and to accurately present the resulting intelligence.
• Ability to travel up to 10% domestically.
• Academic background in marketing, communications, business, technology or related field. Undergraduate college degree or equivalent experience minimum, MBA a plus.
