Email Marketing Developer & Specialist

We’re looking for an email and digital marketing specialist that can help out with development and coding needs for our well known university client. This is an ON-SITE, full time contract for 2-3 months.

The Email and Digital Marketing Specialist will work with the Marketing and Communications Office and Events team with this university client, as well as the Alumni Association and Institute departments, labs, and centers to shape email campaigns. The Email and Digital Marketing Specialist will develop recommendations for the strategic use of email and will regularly test the functionality and quality of email messaging to ensure the highest open and click through rates. The position involves gathering content from numerous areas of the Institute, marketing online services, contributing to Campaign-wide communications efforts, and analyzing digital trends and results.

Characteristic Duties
• Use HTML email marketing tools to build, test, and send email newsletters, announcements, etc., and work with designers to create and build HTML email templates that draw on the latest industry best practices.
• Collect and help analyze data around email marketing efforts and other digital channels. Recommend and test changes to improve effectiveness
• Collaborate with colleagues in Resource Development, the Alumni Association and Institute departments, labs, and centers to shape email campaigns consistent with the campaign fundraising strategy.
• Provide reports on email traffic tracking applications and trends; recommend improvements or changes based on results.
• Work with designers to prepare necessary graphic files for emails, create and test email templates.
• Develop partnerships with other communications stakeholders in departments, labs, and schools to implement best practices in email communications for all Resource Development and fundraising related matters.
• Use content management systems to update development web properties
• Manage the process for generating and sending emails to constituents and provide support for the production and sending of weekly email digests from the Campaign Toolkit.
• Stay current with trends in web, video, and emerging technologies and recommend new initiatives. Assist the Digital Strategist with investigating the media and marketing landscape in order to be on the cutting edge of new techniques and approaches for Resource Development's needs.
• Collaborate with members of the Marketing & Communications, Art and Web, and Events staffs and other departments at the university
• Assist in tracking campaigns, preparing performance analysis and monitoring trends and developments in digital technology and communications
• Research and write original stories, interviews, blog posts, and social media content with a focus on creating a diverse, inclusive and broad range of information on various outlets.
• Assist in developing content for other Marketing & Communications projects.
• Edit and proofread own content and content of other contributors.
• Other duties as required

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, or related field; 5+ years of experience, preferably in digital communications, marketing, or program management in a creative agency, higher education, or non-profit environment. Experience with email management systems, such as Lyris, Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc. preferred. Experience creating and implementing professional digital and social media marketing campaigns required. Previous experience in a major capital campaign strongly preferred. Strong planning, scheduling and project management abilities required. Excellent writing and editing ability. Skill in proofreading and line editing. Ability to understand the audience, pull content from various sources, integrate the content through editing and rewriting, and present the results in a web-optimized way. Experience with Mac systems, Photoshop and other Adobe products, HTML, CSS, and CMS platforms is strongly preferred. Professional experience with social media platforms - early adopter/follower of new media trends preferred. Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team; set priorities; take initiative; work in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and be willing to lend a hand at all times to professionals both in the office and throughout the Resource Development Department; desire to be part of a talented and collaborative team; and the ability to exercise tact and good judgment are essential. Must be able to work additional hours during busy periods, including evenings and weekends.
