Editorial Product Manager

Our client, a large non-profit in the D.C. area, is looking for an experienced and passionate Editorial Product Manager for their digital content department. You'd be responsible for a number of existing products, building and expanding their core capabilities. This role will assist in overseeing requirements, prioritizing road maps, the development and QA of new product initiatives, as well as monitoring and optimizing future iterations. 

This person must be passionate about creating great digital content and user experiences. Our client needs an advocate for our users who can balance the needs of stakeholders and senior management. 

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Working closely with the Content and Product/Development teams to improve existing products and user experiences; develop new and innovative publishing, presentation and ad products; 
  • Assist in managing the product life cycle from concept through launch; identifying opportunities for ongoing improvements 
  • Assist in identifying new areas for product development and leading experimentation within them 
  • Partnering with stakeholders to translate organizational objectives into tactical projects and requirements 
  • Using data analysis to inform product development decisions 
  • Conducting needs assessments, competitive research, user research and market analysis 
  • Assist in determining product buy vs. build, finding and accessing existing products to license 
  • Documenting business and functional requirements 
  • Working closely with photo, design, product and development eads 
  • Communicating strategy, project status, conflicts, and resource needs to executive management 
  • Defining and measuring success 
  • Participating in product/development QA plans and application testing; helping to make go-live decisions 
  • Executing change management plans for internal and external users or our CMS/sites 

Qualifications of Ideal Candidate: 

  • Experience in editorial content production and ideally technical product development 
  • Understanding of content processes and publishing systems (Adobe CQ, Brightcove, TruEdit, Playbuzz a plus!) 
  • Creative problem solver with solid analytical and research skills 
  • Demonstrated ability working with cross-functional teams 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Solid understanding of web standards, design, web browser capabilities, SEO, user experience, and common web technologies 
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to converse with business, editorial and technology teams 
  • Candidates with experience working in media strongly preferred 
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA is a plus!
