POSITION TERM: One year (August 2014-August 2015)

Work with the Director to provide accurate, clear, and engaging information about the current and redesigned SAT, PSAT/NMSQT and ReadiStep assessments to educators and students through content revision and development of new materials. Support all aspects of content delivery from conception and design through implementation.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Development
• At the direction of the Director and in collaboration with the Associate Director, develops language to explain new and existing policies to different constituent audiences in collaboration with Director, publications team, and senior policy staff.
• Creates concepts and writes content for new collateral for students, counselors, and supervisors to convey assessment information, including test registration procedures, practice resources, test-day requirements, and college planning tools.
• Collaborates with Assessment Marketing and Program Operations teams to determine the components of various mailings for counselors and ensure consistent messaging, design, and information across those components.
• Writes and edits operational publications and web content supporting the College Board’s opportunity agenda for students and counselors.
• Writes, edits, and ensures stakeholder reviews of assessment guides, informational booklets, forms, and manuals for students and educational professionals in high schools and higher education institutions.

Project Management Support
• Supports individual projects, including summer mailings, publications related to test day, and score-reporting mailings, with duties including facilitating stakeholder reviews and content development meetings.
• Monitors and keeps on track the implementation of system-generated content associated with new policies, such as transactional emails and changes to online applications.

Quality and Consistency Assurance
• Works with Information Technology team and SAT Web manager to deliver timely posting of new fees, dates, and policies for each new release (i.e., in June, August, and February).
• Proofreads and quality checks content for accuracy as needed in all publications and related content.

Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree, in a liberal arts field requiring heavy writing or a business-related field is required.
Technical writing and/or editing experience is required.
Marketing and/or design experience is a plus.
Experience with managing processes or projects is a plus.
Related Skills & Other Requirements:
Strong writing, proofreading, and editing ability required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Ability to effectively coordinate multiple responsibilities simultaneously and work independently required.
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications – Latest versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
Ability to analyze information and develop related communication strategies needed.
Strong organizational, time, and task management skills needed.
Well-developed ability to focus on details needed.
Collaborative work style needed.
Quantitative and analytical skills preferred.
