Editorial Assistant

The Editorial Assistant is a key member of our client's Marketing Communications team. The primary focus of the Editorial Assistant is to provide data updates and markups on a variety of documents, which will require pulling data from a number of systems and sources. The Editorial Assistant will work to clean-up transcripts based on input from copy writers or other business partners. Additionally, the Editorial Assistant will collaborate with various internal groups to manage projects and ensure all tasks are scheduled and completed on time.

-Updates and/or identifies changes to information in materials that require quarterly/annual updates, including, but not limited to, statistical information and changes in investment and risk disclosures. Copyedits and abridges content to fit sizing requirements as necessary. Ensures materials are error-free.

-Accesses various databases and systems to retrieve current data in order to update a variety of materials.

-Works with writers and other business partners to clean up and prepare transcripts for publishing. Ensures changes to text do not affect the overall message.

-Copyedits, proofreads and fact-checks materials. Copyedits and proofreads print and electronic materials for clarity, grammar, accuracy, consistency, style and tone, and disclosure requirements. Verifies statistics and facts against internal and external sources. Recommends copy-edits based on knowledge of target audience and internal and external style guides.

-Compiles circulation comments from legal, business, marketing and creative associates onto a master document.

-Demonstrates sound judgment when resolving matters of moderate complexity

-Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills; strong grammar and syntax skills

-Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar and style guides and ability to apply it to work assignments; follows Chicago and AP styles

-Demonstrates the ability to work in a team environment and across broad, diverse groups; demonstrates strong interpersonal skills

-Demonstrates strong production coordination skills, including following production schedules, tracking deliverables, problem solving and escalating issues as appropriate

-Demonstrates strong attention to detail; demonstrates ability to multitask and stay organized, effectively manage an unpredictable workload, and meet established deadlines

-Demonstrates working knowledge of financial and investment concepts and the ability to apply that knowledge to work assignments

-Requires at least 3-5 years of copyediting experience

-Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
