This Editor position will serve as a content strategist for our clients consumer magazine, e-communications and web properties. Editor also oversees production of consumer magazine and e-communications and writes and edits stories for various print and online media.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide editorial direction for clients magazine, websites, e-newsletters, and other campaigns and collateral materials
  • Oversee the development and production of quarterly magazine and monthly e-newsletters
  • Coordinate with marketing, social media, public relations, education, advocacy and research programs to leverage and develop content for multiple platforms and audiences
  • Work with in-house writers and freelancers to develop content that meets quality standards, engages constituents and drives donations, volunteerism, list growth and event participation
  • Work with national office and field staff to ensure editorial consistency with regard to brand
  • Research, identify and develop stories for print and online media using web analytics, user feedback, strategic goals, marketing calendars and breaking news
  • Lead and participate in editorial and content strategy meetings
  • Write and edit articles for print and online materials
  • Set and maintain online and print editorial calendars
  • Help maintain an editorial board to solicit patient input in communications activities

  • Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field
  • Five years' writing, editing and communications production experience
  • Excellent writing ability both for web and print platforms
  • Demonstrated experience writing in journalism, marketing, web and social media genres
  • Fluent in writing/editing AP style; working knowledge of AMA style
  • Experience in conducting and analyzing market research to determine content focus
  • Ability to interpret medical/technical information and relay it to a lay audience
  • Proven project management experience
  • Ability to move seamlessly from content strategy to writing to editing activities
  • Understanding of web and print design practices and standards
  • Must be organized and process oriented
  • Understanding of marketing principles and techniques.
