We're seeking an Editor to work on children's custom projects (both print and digital), adult trade, and custom titles. This will be a contract position through the end of the year. He or she will oversee the content making process from concept through delivery of final files by working closely with Art, Design, Editorial, Global Operations, North America Licensing, IT, Synergy, Press Production, Marketing, and Project Management & List Planning colleagues. Main tasks include developing and tracking various deadlines, such as due dates for manuscripts, interiors, and cover mechanicals on a title-by-title basis.

Key Accountabilities:
- Oversee the editorial, art, and design development of art pools, classic storybooks, tool kits, trade books and other content within given franchises.
- Manage and prioritize schedules, set and track dates as well as collect and track costs for each project.
- Oversee the routing of book mechanical components by keeping track of manuscripts, art, layouts, sketches, or passes of each book. Must have continuous follow-up with all departments to ensure timely routing of materials.
- Lead regular weekly or bi-weekly production meetings where projects are reviewed and discussed. Must take a proactive role in overcoming obstacles to ensure timely delivery of finished files and product.
- Maintain the publishing databases and systems with accurate data regarding schedules, title information, and file availability. This includes preparing and uploading work-in-progress materials.
- Manage the day-to-day workflow and keep all internal departments informed of changes. This includes approval of requests, change memos, and estimate requests made by Editorial.
- Coordinate sales materials: mock-ups, dummies, bound galleys, blads, and other electronic samples.

Requirements:
- This position requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent process management skills who will interact effectively with all departments.
- Additionally, this position requires an adept problem solver with strong interpersonal skills, especially with creative talent.
- Project management experience with creative product required.
- Managing editorial experience preferred.
- College degree preferred.
- Experience with international markets a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of publishing functions and processes a plus.
- Children's publishing experience/an understanding of children's content and formats is a plus.
- Excellent communications skills required.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Macs required.
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Pro a plus.
- Past experience in basic databases preferred (Filemaker Pro, ACT, or others).
- Past experience with a Data Asset Management system a plus.
