ECommerce Copywriter - 1307-1

The Web Copywriter is responsible for the creative direction and execution of engaging and persuasive written web content that inspires customers.

Essential functions include overseeing the development of tone, cadence and storytelling of our brand and product marketing by creating fresh headlines and tight supporting web copy that both inspire the customer and sell products for Alaska Airlines. This position works closely with the design, development and production groups to develop effective and compelling creative that reflects the clients brand.

The Web Copywriter will work both independently and as part of cross-functional teams. To be successful, they must be organized and be able to work on several projects at once while demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills. Outstanding attention to detail in written and oral communications is also essential.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Create original, compelling and branded product copy that is simple, clear and jargon-free
• Write web copy for marketing to drive both engagement and conversion, tailored to various audience segments
• Craft succinct yet compelling copy for landing pages and digital ads
• Create value-based messaging guidelines for Alaska Airlines various product offerings
• Create clear, SEO-rich product copy, metatags, titles and page descriptions
• Take proactive approach to improving existing product copy
• Maintain and evolve the voice and tone for the clients external websites while staying true to the brand
• Build productive relationships with Marketing in order to tell meaningful product and brand stories, while ensuring copy aligns with other brand and integrated marketing priorities and direction
• Prioritize and manage workload in a high-volume environment in order to meet deadlines
• Stay abreast of clients campaign and brand initiatives along with emerging ecommerce, social and technology trends
• Edit copy provided by various stakeholder groups to ensure it is clear, concise, and on brand
• Manage priorities and deadlines for creative assets used in strategic projects (tests, fare sales, etc.)
• Collaborate with content team, interactive marketing and graphic designer(s) to ensure consistent marketing assets across all online marketing initiatives


Required Experience and Skills:

• Bachelors degree in English or Marketing Communications
• Minimum 3 years of professional writing, proofing and editing experience required
• Experience writing for digital marketing or web required
• SEO writing experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An aptitude for quick, creative thinking with acute attention to detail within demanding deadlines
• Collaborative, flexible, reasonable, and self-motivated
• Creative problem solving skills
• Familiarity with the AP style guidelines
• Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work within a basic HTML template, familiar with Dreamweaver, MS Word and PowerPoint
• Accuracy and attention to detail is critical for this position
