Drupal Developer

Seeking a Web Developer who will work with our client's web team to develop and maintain various websites/web applications. This position provides a highly technical professional service through the application of his/her expertise in Internet technologies, software development, networking, and systems design.

Duties include working with the web team to update current and develop Drupal modules, enhance the law school website with dynamic content, and implement SLS Web initiatives. Technically, the individual must be able to quickly synthesize complex design and functionality requirements and execute solutions that account for usability, accessibility, security, and maintainability.


• Work independently and as part of the web team to develop custom web applications, to

add dynamic content to SLS website, and to implement structural and functional changes

to existing Drupal and WordPress websites.

• Work on identifying new products, platforms, tools, and processes to enhance current

web services or to deliver new web services.

• Use JavaScript, CSS, XHTML, AJAX, PHP, and jQuery to build new and enhance

existing web applications that will be used by various law school audiences and clients.

• Coordinate with IT Department on deployment plans, server prep, and ultimate hand-off

for application migration.

• Integrate RSS, third-party modules or APIs to enhance functionality of existing dynamic


• Provide technical expertise in front end and backend web development as well as best

practices/standards/accessibility processes.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated ability to develop web content management systems.

• Demonstrated ability to develop complex websites and web applications using open

source tools, languages, libraries, and current standards-compliant code.

• Knowledge of web content development and cloud services.

• Expert level knowledge of front-end development languages and ability to hand code

HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Solid understanding of web standards and usability methods.

• Expert knowledge of content management systems, such as Drupal and WordPress,

including the ability to perform standard installation and configuration.

• Demonstrated ability to write, compile, test, debug, and deploy software.

• Knowledge of web analytics tools and related analyses.

• Ability to design and manage relational databases.

• Ability to design and implement web services.

• Ability to interact positively with and build consensus among a diverse group of

colleagues, clients, and senior leadership.


• Experience managing large-scale projects from start to finish.

• Experience implementing new processes and new technologies.

• Ability to learn new technologies relevant to website development.

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and works exceptional well in a team environment.

• Ability to clearly document all projects and to create compelling presentations of work.

• Ability to meet deadlines and provide quick turnaround on projects when necessary.

• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with non-technical staff.

• Experience managing projects involving multiple groups or individuals with different

project needs.

• Good software development and life-cycle management methodology and proven

organizational and project management skills.

• Able to work during non-business hours as necessary to implement system changes,

upgrades, and maintenance.

• Experience with information architecture and user experience.


• Experience with InDesign rule-based layouts from XML.

• Experience with automating tasks by writing scripts in Javascript, Applescript, VBScript,

and Action Script.

• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat Professional, Illustrator, and InDesign.
