Director of Marketing

Our restaurateur client is looking to bring on a Director of Marketing for a contract to hire position in Walnut Creek. This role will report directly to the CEO (on track to eventually be VP of Marketing) responsible for planning, development and implementation of all of the Company’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal.

In this role you will also: oversee development and implementation of support materials and services for chapters in the area of marketing, communications and public relations; direct the efforts of any marketing, communications and public relations agencies and coordinate at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the Company; and take an active role in communicating and introducing new Company concept in all applicable market segments.

Additional Essential Job Functions:
• Ensure articulation of Company’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the Company, and assure communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external.
• Implement the social media strategy, coordinating with stakeholders across the Company to ensure its effectiveness and encouraging adoption of relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture and into all of the company’s products and services.
• Work with the Senior Management and outside agencies to ensure social media tools are effective and relevant.
• Actively participates and guides new Company concept rollout strategy to general public and partners.
• Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all Company publications.
• Coordinate media interest in the Company and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
• Develop, coordinate and oversee programs, technical assistance and resource materials to assist chapters in the marketing, communications and positioning of their activities.
• Leads projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events.
• Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing/communications/public relations program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
• Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations, hospitality trends and activities and use this information to help the Company operate with initiative and innovation.
• Work with senior staff and restaurant teams to develop and maintain a strategic perspective -- based on marketplace and constituent needs and satisfaction -- in organizational direction, program and services, and decision-making; and ensure the overall health and vitality of the Company.
• Help make sure that the Company’s philosophy, mission and vision are pertinent and practiced throughout the organization.
• Design, support and oversee cross-functional teams throughout the Company.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the hospitality sector.
• Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities in the hospitality arena.
• Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.
• Experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel.
• Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.
• Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
• Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout.
• Strong oral and written communications skills.
