The Director of Direct Marketing, (acquisition) will be responsible for developing and executing the marketing strategy to convert customers from free trials to a paying subscription. The role will oversee the customer experience from point of sale through all marketing touch points and communications with the sole focus of acquiring new paying subscribers in what is a key growth area for the company.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with the knowledge and drive to develop a growth strategy and build a team in this exciting, emerging area of our business. They will have an exceptional direct marketing background that demonstrates their ability to develop strategies that will effectively reach and engage customers during their trial period. The position requires an outstanding ability to clearly, creatively, and passionately communicate the value and benefits of subscribing to our broad selection of entertainment and exclusive content.

Key responsibilities include:
• Maintaining a sharp focus on key metrics and measurements of performance across various marketing channels
• Developing unique ways to engage and interact with customers using traditional, digital, and social media
• Partnering with the Strategic Analytics team to identify subscriber characteristics, key segments, and new marketing treatments. Working with them to develop and implement in-market tests in a continual “test and learn” environment
• Working with Marketing Research to develop surveys and research projects to better understand customer behavior
• Engaging internal and external creative resources to design and implement new marketing messages and materials
• Bringing strategies to market by leading cross functional teams including Legal, IT, Finance, Program Management, Call Center Operations, and Marketing Operations
• Supporting broader corporate initiatives that impact Pre-Owned trials as needed

Required Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field from a well known educational institution. MBA a must
• 12+ years experience in direct marketing with a focus on developing and implementing new strategies
• In-depth experience with developing print, digital, and telemarketing strategies
• Experience in marketing for media, entertainment or subscription businesses preferred
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
• Self-starter with the ability work independently and proactively
• Strong ability to develop cross functional relationships and lead execution teams
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization, particularly with executive management
• Keen understanding of marketing metrics, strong marketing analytical skills and a critical thinker
• Excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
• Solid interpersonal and team building skills and the ability to project a confident and professional image
