Director of Digital Design

The Director of Digital Design will oversee the client Networks visual branding across all 
digital platforms and will lead design strategy for visual, user experience and interaction 
design as it applies to all digital marketing tactics and initiatives. 


The client brand continues to expand through content distribution and marketing tactics 
across digital and social platforms from Facebook to Twitter, HULU to Netflix, Apple TV 
to Google Chrome, and more by the day. The Digital Design team is essential in 
strategizing, establishing, and creating Network and product branded assets across all 
digital platforms. 


The Director of Digital Design will bridge the gap between the Network’s Digital 
Marketing team and the Design team. They will collaborate with Digital and Social 
teams, and Creative Directors and Art Directors of Design to translate the brand 
aesthetic and brand experience across the digital platforms, and push innovation in 
visual and user experience design so that the client is presented as a premium brand at the 
forefront of the expanding digital world. 


This position is for someone who has keen insights and excellent understanding of 
design language (interaction design, usability, visual and motion design) and 
development architecture across web, mobile, tablet and connected device form factors. 
Successful candidates will have passion for users & design, typography, coding, 
emerging technologies, digital media platforms, and an ability to instill this passion in 
others. They understand that emotions are as important as utility and ease of use in the 
creation of effective marketing tactics and great user experiences. They are team 
players who bring charisma, empathy and curiosity to their work. They are fearless in 
challenging the status quo and meticulous about all aspects of execution and delivery 
with an unwavering attention to detail. They must be resourceful self-starters who push 
boundaries, and are always seeking new ways to innovate and stay ahead of the curve. 
 

Responsibilities: 
 Strategize cross-platform design initiatives with a 360-degree digital design 
overview. 
 Collaborate with Design Directors and Digital Teams in the development of 
branded marketing campaigns and individual tactics to achieve the best result in 
the digital space – bringing design and user experience knowledge and insight to 
help inform and improve the design strategy and aesthetics holistically across all 
medium. 
 Create and direct the design and delivery of digital design assets utilizing both 
original and existing brand packaging, artwork, and various other creative assets. 
 Lead interactive design research and effectively communicate findings, 
conceptual ideas and designs for our digital design and marketing teams. 
 Help strategize methods for utilizing design to help maximize ROI in digital 
marketing initiatives. Optimize the users’ connection, acceptance, interaction, 
and engagement with the brand and our products/content. 
 Investigate and interpret the latest research and user testing to advance the FX 
Networks brand presence and user experience in the digital space. 
 Where necessary, aid in the design of user interfaces and information 
architecture. This may involve producing user requirements, personas, 
storyboards, scenarios, flowcharts, design prototypes, and design specifications. 
 Work with our Digital, Technology and Digital Product teams, and use analytics 
to identify problems in existing design, and flows to identify potential 
improvement areas. 
 Lead and mentor design teams internally and across multiple development 
partners in the United States and internationally to improve the work we produce 
and continue advancing our collective knowledge and skills across multiple 
consumer facing platforms. 

Qualifications: 
 Bachelors in Digital Media, Visual or Interaction design or related degree. 
 6-8+ years of professional experience working in digital design, experience in 
cross-disciplinary teams preferred. 
 Strong people management skills, past experience managing design teams. 
 A portfolio showcasing excellent design aesthetics, user-oriented design, visual 
branding, excellent balance of form & function where design is interwoven with 
trending technologies and forward-thinking solutions. 
 Experience designing products that extend across multiple platforms: native 
mobile, tablet, responsive Web and connected devices for 10-foot experiences a 
plus. 
 The drive to lead others and simultaneously get hands on and creating value as 
an individual contributor
