This position will be responsible for helping to define the editorial strategy and establish editorial direction and standards in support of business goals and objectives across the digital delivery platforms for SalonCentric. This role requires a self-driven communicator who is capable of developing and executing projects with minimal supervision, while also having the skills to collaborate on larger-scale initiatives in a deadline-driven environment.
Oversee and manage implementation of editorial direction, content, and tone/voice of the SalonCentric ‘brand’ (across digital/social media and web) based on our stated business goals and objectives.
Act as a key representative of the brand within the professional beauty industry.
Regularly confer with Marketing & Digital teams to formulate editorial calendar, establish production schedules, create original content pieces, and generate ideas and plans.
Writes articles, reports, editorials, reviews, and other material pertinent to reader
Works with brand partners to source content for use on our digital platforms.
Develop and utilize knowledge of industry and trends, competitive environment and agreed- upon editorial vision.
Assumes ultimate responsibility for grammatical accuracy, clarity, completeness, appropriateness for intended audience.
Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and other events, representing the company as required. Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with authors, industry
experts, and other internal and external contacts.
Ensure that all content is SEO optimized for the salon professional industry.
Develop and manage monthly analytics reports, tracking user behavior to gain insights on what’s
working and areas for improvement
Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in digital content management/publishing/magazine production.
Proficiency with desktop publishing word processing software and knowledgeable in effective use of graphic design. Strong familiarity with MS Excel, Power Point, and Word.
Understanding of and ability to apply copyright laws.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Web site content development experience preferred.
In-depth understanding of and experience leading content strategy and execution across multiple media platforms (print/web/newsletters/events, etc.).
Ability to manage a changing blend of internal and external content resources.
Salon Professional/Beauty Industry experience and interest preferred
Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media.
Basic understanding of web templates and content management systems.
Strong ability to communicate & collaborate across various levels of the organization
Familiar with SEO principles and an understanding of digital terminology.
Ability to adhere to deadlines.
Four-year degree in Journalism, English, Communications or other relevant field or commensurate experience. Advanced degree (MBA, Journalism) is helpful but not required.
