Director of Customization

Our customers are unique and they expect their vehicle to also be exclusive and unique. As such, Customization and Personalization are a key part of our Brand story and future success. As the Director of Customization, it will be your responsibility to deliver on this expectation that both meets customer demands and also adds to the client's bottom line.

The Director of Customization will be a leader within the company working to translate customer needs while guiding Design, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Sales/Marketing to an end goal for both vehicle and non-vehicle products and services that builds upon the client's portfolio.

In addition to short-term vehicle launch goals, this person will develop and propose alternative business models that will enable greater levels of customization and profitability over time. This will involve business planning and possibly engaging supplier(s) that will assist and supply extensive customization of product features and equipment, lifestyle accessories and services, infotainment software upgrades etc. guided by market competition and the expectations of client's customers. This person will be responsible for creating a ‘virtual’ business unit for the client with measurable P&L responsibility and high visibility.

Primary Responsibilities
• Drive the Enterprise to create and agree on a Business Plan for a successful, profitable business
• Translate the voice-of-the-customer, ‘voice of the retailer’ and the client's brand identity into descriptive and objective vehicle attributes that guides and drives execution through the organization
• Create an “operational definition” in both oral and written communication to enable Design, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and other downstream processes to succeed efficiently and effectively
• Generate an ever-improving set of executable features, equipment and services to improve profitability based on our client's internal and external market inputs.
• Lead cross-functional teams of experts that may involve Marketing, Sales, Finance, Design, Engineering, Service and other stakeholders to deliver products
• Oversee a team of direct reports responsible for Infotainment, Accessories, Apparel, Bespoke
• Work with Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales/Marketing and other staffs as necessary to assemble an accurate business case rationale for each of the customization business initiatives
• Contribute to the company’s competitive benchmarking knowledge base
• Guide company research efforts related to personalization and customization

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering


Related Experience
• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience dealing with Customization
• Familiarity with luxury cars or the luxury goods market
• Experience in guiding large, complex products and services across an organization


Skill / Knowledge
• Familiarity with the automotive value chain of consumer research, vehicle development, test, production, distribution, sales, aftersales
• Background in automotive light duty product development processes and terms
• Business acumen and an ability to create and explain/sell a business unit set of financials
• Direct or in-direct vehicle retail experience
• Ability to work across disciplines and perform project management of multiple activities at once
• Competency in MS Office products including Word/Excel/Powerpoint/MSProject
