Publisher

The Publisher will report to our CEO and has frequent, consistent interaction with the senior management team regarding strategy, budgets, and priorities. The Publisher will also support our growth strategy—participating in new and incremental business opportunities—and will help develop new products and offerings to proactively meet and exceed our customers’ needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Editorial/Training Department Management

o Provides editorial vision, guides staff in execution of that vision, and evolves the vision over time as appropriate
o Builds and retains a top-rate content team, through hiring, ongoing training, and performance management
o Monitors and evaluates workloads, productivity, and performance in the Editorial Department, and ensures that KPIs and deadlines are met
o Manages Editorial Department staffing needs
o Develops short- and long-term plans and budgets for executive review
o Evaluates and creates strategic process improvements for the department, and improves editorial processes and cycle time
o Utilizes web analytics and customer feedback to enhance our website and increase customer satisfaction


• Business Development And Strategic Planning

o Aggressively pursue and develop new products and offerings, including identifying and vetting new product ideas
o Identifies, strategizes, and collaborates to enhance existing and create new strategic partnerships
o Develops and implements a content aggregation strategy, including content licensing
o Explores additional delivery methods for products (eg, mobile apps, e-readers, workflow, training, etc)
o Oversees our CME department and partners
o Oversees and facilitates management of important partnerships, including EMRA, AgileMD, and others


• Collaboration

o Works closely with design, production, and marketing teams in a collaborative and professional manner
o Provides regular production updates (print timelines, topics, etc)
o Prepares and presents monthly and quarterly reports to senior management team


Key Performance Indicators:

• Circulation and renewal rates of subscription products
• Number of new product tests and successful launches
• Growth in sales and profitability
• Publication deadlines

Other Desirables:

• Familiarity with CME processes/programs
• Some hands-on familiarity with HTML
• Working knowledge of basic SEO
• Experience with Google Analytics or other website monitoring software
• Experience working with a product/publication in its early stages and growing an audience
