Director, Ad Sales Research

Global Entertainment and Media Client  is seeking a Director of Ad Sales Strategy & Analytics to drive research innovation, measurement opportunities, consumer understanding, and forward thinking sales solutions with a focus on meeting sales revenue goals. The individual will possess solid personnel management and communication skills, a strong analytical background, and be technically proficient with linear and digital media research software applications. The Director is a team leader and catalyst for change in the group.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  Support SVP and VP of Strategy & Analytics to define challenges, develop strategy and provide solutions

  Execute and lead sales strategy solutions for sports and potential application across client's portfolio

  Drive consumer insights across platforms for a complete understanding of video consumption from linear to digital to out of home to virtual reality, generate thorough insights on the sports fan across generations

  Independently direct the creation of marketing and sales materials Sports Channels and Properties

  Direct and deliver proof of advertiser campaign performance presentations

  Utilize both syndicated and custom research tools to effectively position  linear and digital properties and develop ROI analysis

  Explore and evaluate new metrics, advise and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue goals

  Well versed in data /QA methods related to digital advertising campaign measurement and implementation processes, solid understanding of IAB standards

  Manage Sports Consumer panel to write and program surveys, analyze results, moderate community discussions and manage the panelist experience

  Monitor trends in sports media and sponsorship space (TV rights fees; multi-platform marketing and consumption; marketplace consolidation; etc.) across trades, publications, and other industry sources

Qualifications

  Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Marketing, Economics/Finance, Media, Sports Management, Statistics

  8+ years of experience, preferably media and/or advertising research, with video based media company, agency, research supplier, or sports organization

  Outstanding project management and time management skills – Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and organizational objectives

  Excellent research and analytical skills– Ability to structure analysis and correctly interpret data to create a compelling narrative that accurately address the business challenge at hand

  Experience managing and developing a team, guiding the team to a strong performance

  Intimate knowledge of Media Math and Digital KPIs

 

 

Desired Characteristics

  Proven knowledge of Nielsen systems (NNTV, NPower, Ad Intel, TV Brand Effect, Arianna, @Plan), Gfk/MRI, Adobe Analytics, comScore, Google Analytics and Millward Brown Digital. Prior experience with Lake5, Rentrak TV Essentials, Rentrak Rubik a plus

  Must be well versed in Microsoft Office applications with significant experience working with Excel and PowerPoint. Prior experience with Tableau, R, Python, SPSS, SAS a plus

  Established background in managing research vendors, leading RFP process

  Strategic thinker with a deep interest in sports media, analytics, business, and finance

  Experience with big data/ complex analyses including Nielsen/Adobe segmentations, and work with custom research projects (ad effectiveness, sponsorship ROI analysis)
