Direct Marketing Manager

Our large financial services client located south of Boston is currently looking for a Direct Marketing Manager to join their team for a 6-month project. This person will engage with business partners within Marketing, Product and Channel to define, develop and implement innovative direct marketing solutions that will successfully on-board and engage new customers or who adopt new products & services. Programs will be based on a deep understanding of customer needs and will support primarily Deposit products and related services but expand to include all products across all channels. Act as marketing and project manager on several initiatives engaging with various stakeholders and business partners to ensure all elements of the program are executed and achieve optimal results.


• Build and implement targeted direct marketing programs to deliver deep, highly profitable customer relationships.

• Partner with internal colleagues in Marketing to build and implement ensure both offline and online marketing channels are being optimized in order to support the achievement of the business and marketing goals. Specifically -- to onboard, deepen and retain qualified customers.

• Project manage multiple programs that include varying degrees of complexity. Oversee all workstreams, manage timelines, budgets and stakeholder engagement. Tasked with keeping leaders, partners and stakeholders informed of program progress, issues and results.

• Mine various sources of data including primary and secondary research competitive intelligence, business analysis to educate him/herself to identify leveragable customer insights that can be translated into effective marketing programs.

• Spearhead, design and management of direct marketing programs in all phases including business case development, planning, implementation and analysis. Use findings to continue to improve and evolve the direct marketing initiatives.

• Develop working relationships with business partners and peers within the marketing team in order to ensure engagement and agreement on marketing initiatives. Must be able to navigate a matrix organization and routinely define win-win approaches that drive optimal results for all stakeholders.

• Maintain an in-depth understanding of each partner's business goals and priorities to proactively identify opportunities to leverage direct marketing solutions.

• Work with multiple outside agency partners to ensure that direct marketing programs are implemented on time, on brand, on strategy, in compliance with regulatory guidelines and are within budget.
• Manage overall direct marketing budget including expenses for outside agencies, consultants, media (lists), and out-of-pocket costs including postage and data processing.

• Partner with Systems and Operations support areas to ensure direct marketing initiatives are leveraging available technologies and are able to be supported on the backend.

• Provide accurate, results-based projections for marketing initiatives to ensure program goals are met and adequate staffing is in place in support areas such as retail branches, sales, Customer Service, etc.


• 8-12 years managing consumer direct marketing programs.

• 5-10 years demonstrated project management experience.

• Strong business and analytical acumen.

• Must have demonstrated experience managing (simultaneously) several large, cross-functional complex programs in varying stages of implementation.

• Development and implementation of 1-to-1 channel initiatives for both online and offline marketing programs.

• Experience with campaign management systems a plus.

• Preferably some experience in financial services, a medium-large sized matrix organization, and/or a retail environment.
