Digital Strategist

Aquent's established mid-sized agency is seeking a Digital Strategist with a top-tier portfolio of clients, ranging from the world’s largest non-profits to Fortune 500 brands.  They pride themselves on their people-first culture and a low-ego workplace that embraces experimentation, collaboration and continuous improvement.  Our client is looking for a strategic thinker who understands psychology, visual design, business and technology to provide direction to our experience design teams.

The Digital Strategist thinks about how the digital experience can transform a client’s business proposition and what role that experience should play for the brand. This includes ensuring that design teams remain user-focused and that the experience we create aligns with the strategic goals of the business.   The Digital Strategist provides clarity of purpose to clients and Experience Design by working with key stakeholders to understand their objectives, researching and recommending solutions, tying digital initiatives back to larger marketing objectives, identifying success criteria and key performance indicators, and reflecting on these criteria & indicators after a project has launched.

The Digital Strategist is expected to stay up to date on web industry best practices and emerging trends in order to better steer clients toward solutions that match their business goals. Measurement and analytics are key tools of the strategist as their recommendations are driven by behavioral data whenever possible.  This individual will work closely with UX Designers, Visual Designers, Business Systems Analysts, and Program Managers. The Client Services team may turn to Digital Strategists to help seed or support business development activities. The Business Systems Analysis team may turn to Digital Strategists to help guide decisions that potentially affect future projects or initiatives.

Project Brief

  • Collaborate with clients to understand the business issues and consult on the digital experience to address the issues/align with the macro strategy
  • Focus the problem identified by the client and identify whitespace opportunity
  • Audience Definition
  • Bring to life the needs, behaviors and motivations of the target audience
  • Plan, manage, and field research
  • Landscape Analysis
  • Understand how others in the client’s industry and beyond are using digital tools to drive their experiences
  • Content Strategy
  • Assess how the client uses their tools to enhance their communications initiatives and the way in which staffing, outreach, and governance policies should change as a result of new capabilities
  • Digital Roadmap
  • Think broadly about the digital ecosystem, identifying digital initiatives available to the client and sequencing for maximum effectiveness
  • Partner with designers, technologists and clients to build recommendations into a cohesive and integrated approach
  • Analytics Review
  • Understand what current analytics tell us about the behaviors of its users

Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience:

  • A four-year college degree
  • Experience in related role such as strategy consulting, experience strategy, experience design
  • Strong understanding of the digital environment and expertise in aligning marketing strategies with business needs
  • Able to absorb the business objectives of a client quickly and learn to speak their language
  • Eagerness to stay up to date on emerging industry and customer experience trends and best practices
  • Knowledge of tools and technologies that may enhance client capabilities online
  • Expert in behavioral insight
  • Depth of experience with primary research methods including in-person interviews as well as co-design session and workshops
  • Excellent communication skills, written & verbal
  • Comfortable presenting in front of large groups
  • Motivated. Able to take ambiguous tasks and turn them into concrete deliverables.
  • Track record of partnering with internal teams as well as client partners

Frequent sitting at a desk performing work on a computer
