Digital Program Manager

Our leading educational client has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Program Manager. The purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate the implementation of all technical projects and work required to deliver customer solution on time, budget and quality. This role will partner with the Business Program Manager and have joint accountability for the success of the solution by meeting or exceeding customer expectations. This position will manage changes to our quarterly plans. They will identify trade-offs to accommodate new work requests and evaluate where we may need to increase capacity. Will also perform “What if” scenarios of potential work we may win and how that may impact future quarterly plan. The position will also run weekly project status meeting with all of the project managers, technical product managers and engineering leads. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure alignment of the weekly health status and appropriate mitigation steps are being taken for projects that have a red or yellow health status. Clear and summarized actions items need to be sent out after meeting. Strong communication skills a must. Experience as a program/project manager and planning also required.

Success requires a strong commitment to teamwork and communication. The Digital Program Manager must be able to work effectively across technicians, business leaders, educational designers and business units. This person must be a results oriented individual with a passion and capability for creating high-quality learning solutions. Candidates can be located in our Monterey, CA or Bothell, WA location.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Responsible for program oversight and health including all projects and work required to deliver technical solution for a customer
Work with Business Program Manager and Technical Product Manager on program objectives, scope and approach to create program charter
Develops and manages program plan with milestones; has a command of all technical projects including scope, schedule and status; provides stakeholders and management updates at appropriate intervals
Anticipates problems before they happen and have mitigation strategies in place that have been agreed to by management well in advance should risks materialize
Relentless drive to address red or yellow status of technical projects and succinctly communicates actions and resolution to management
Represents technical team(s) at business program meetings, leads technical scrum of scrum meetings, identifies technical dependencies between all internal and external teams
Manages and oversees program budgets and metrics; monitors program resource capacity and resolves constraints
Evaluates, selects and manages technical vendor relationships and contracts required to deliver solution
Ensures all business systems, IT systems, partner platforms and networks are implemented as designed by the Business Platform Product Manager and Technical Product Manager
Champions agile methodologies throughout the development process and steps in to lead project(s) depending on the size and complexity of the program

Required Skills:
15+ years of large technical program and project management experience
Proven qualifications in both Waterfall and Agile program and project management
In depth knowledge of software development process
Technically savvy and can quickly come up to speed on new technologies
Understanding of various technology components required
Experience working with external software vendors, including offshore vendors, and in utilizing both traditional and rapid/lightweight project management
Demonstrated skills in leadership, negotiation, conflict management, communications, organizational and critical thinking. Must be a savvy, capable communicator with senior ranking customers
Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Scrum Master is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field is preferred
Ability to travel (up to 40%)
