Digital Producer/Project Manager

Our client, a music school in Boston, is looking for a talented digital producer/project manager. This position is temp to perm and full time hours and starts as soon as the right candidate is found.

Under the supervision of the AVP of Digital Strategy and Communications, the Digital Producer/Project Manager oversees the schools flagship web site and related mobile applications. The Digital Producer/Project Manager works with the software development team and various departments across the college to plan, organize and schedule the day-to-day production and development of the web site, as well as longer term projects that align with the college’s strategic plan and goals. The Digital Producer/Project Manager is responsible for managing developers and liaising with stakeholders, designers, editors, content contributors, third party vendors and many others. The Digital Producer/Project Manager is an effective communicator, collaborator and master planner with an eye for detail and passion for great website design and user experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with the Director of Communications, supervise the creation of new web site features or capabilities as needed, working with leadership of all areas involved.
- Lead project discovery and creation of technical specifications. Work cooperatively with the college’s content managers to interpret needs, advise on options, gather and review requirements; and develop proposed courses of action.
- Manage and collaborate with the software development team to assess workload and create and maintain project plans.
- Manage scope and timeline across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Assure quality by developing and completing test plans for completed features, organizing project and technical documentation.
- Ensure that changes to the site(s) are communicated as appropriate.
- Serve as the point of contact for day-to-day interactions with content managers and stakeholders across the college and third party hosting providers and vendors.
- Advise offices and departments at the college on how to use the site and its capabilities to help achieve departmental goals, in sustainable, customer-oriented ways, and advise on best practices relating to content creation, ie SEO optimization.
- Handle advanced Drupal configuration tasks that require an in-depth, technical understanding of the system.
- Oversee web-related budget, including freelance contractors, multimedia serving, and hosting vendors.
- Work cooperatively with the IT department and other technical staff to address systems integration and hosting needs; analyze complex technical and communications needs; supervise and execute sustainable, long-term solutions.
- Develop and administer efficient, sustainable processes to manage the college's web based communications needs.
- Periodically review the overall site and individual web pages with page-owners to ensure usefulness of information, accuracy, etc.
- Periodically attend professional development sessions; report on findings.
- Stay current with technology and research the web for new developments and trends. Identify new short-and long-term approaches to development, user-experience and design.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
- Strong communications skills. Solid writing and editing skills.
- Proven ability to balance customer needs with the larger goals of the college, and to manage clients and their expectations.
- Excellent people skills.
- Ability to lead and interact effectively with individuals and groups at all levels of the college, maintaining a respectful relationship with teammates and others.
- Superior organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and set and meet deadlines. Ability to multi-task and balance technical, editorial, design, and customer support issues.
- Technical expertise. Working knowledge of web applications and associated technologies: HTML; CSS; Web audio/video formats; Ajax; Javascript. Relational databases.
- Working knowledge of information architecture, and UX design. Demonstrated ability to master continually changing, web-related technologies.
- Great attention to detail and follow-through.

Nice to have skills:
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent training with proven work experience.
- Basic understanding of Ruby on Rails.
- Experience with web authoring and graphic manipulation tools.
- General programming experience.
- Well-read and up-to-date on digital strategy and project management philosophy, process and tools.

Required Experience:
- Experience in project management, product management or other applicable roles. Proven work experience with Agile methodologies.
- Solid understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
- Experience with the content management system Drupal.
- College degree in design, technical, or communications field preferred.
