Digital Librarian

Leading high-tech company in Austin seeking a Digital Librarian to add to a growing team. This is an open-ended contract with the goal to convert to a permanent role.

Job Description:
In addition to identifying and classifying web content, the librarian will assist in the taxonomy governance process, and provide input to future requirements for the content management system (CMS).

Responsibilities:
• Inventory of available topic-relevant assets.
• Classification of assets against relevant taxonomic criteria
• Entry/ updating of assets with appropriate metadata tags into the content management system
• Interface with web site editors to ensure proper placement and classification of web documents and assets
• Provide feedback for taxonomy maintenance and management
• Provide feedback and business requirements for future improvement of the content management system
• Document processes to assist development of automated workflows
-manage quality and proper placement of assets on website
-assist with metadata implementation in CMS
-manage overall preparation of qualified assets from stakeholders
-recommend target pages for SEO programs

Qualifications:
• Understanding of taxonomy and classifications systems, meta-data schemas, controlled vocabularies, content indexing, and open tagging systems
• Prior experience or training in indexing or cataloging helpful
• Prior experience working with web content management systems helpful - such as Interwoven, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS), etc.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications
• Prior experience in high-tech industry desirable
• Comfortable working independently as part of a globally distributed team
• Ability to delegate work/manage time
• Strong command of the English language, inter-personal and communication skills
• Must be detail oriented
• Able to communicate timelines, set up project processes, and effectively communicate and manage remote teams in project execution

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Library or Information Science, Information Studies, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or related field. Alternatively, 2+ years work experience in comparable positions.
• Business education or experience also desired
• Will also consider recent MLS/MLIS graduates, or as a practicum for MLS/MLIS candidate
